Common Application for Freshman Undergraduate Admissions

This application form is the correct one to use if you want to enroll in the 2012 academic year as a freshman. If you are applying for any other year, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Applications for transfer, re-admit, and cross-campus transfer students can be found online at www.admissions.umich.edu.

The University of Michigan uses The Common Application exclusively. In order to be considered for freshman admission, the following items are required:

You can check your status online once we have received your application by creating a friend account at http://wolverineaccess.umich.edu; however, keep in mind that it does take at least 2 weeks to process your application and other supporting documents. Items will not show up as “received” online until at least 2 weeks have passed. Learn more about how to check your status at www.admissions.umich.edu/appstatus. Application DeadlinesConsideration to all units (schools/colleges) is made on a space available basis. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early. Term Deadline Fall (Sept.-Dec.) Minimum requirements:To be considered for admission into the College of Engineering, you should complete these classes by the end of your senior year in high school:

Four years of English• Four years of science, including chemistry • (required) and physics (strongly recommended) Four years of mathematics • (calculus is strongly recommended) Three years of social science• One unit of a pre-engineering subject, such as CAD, • drafting, or computer-related technology (recommended)

Two years of foreign language • (recommended) One unit of computer science • (recommended)

Athletic Training, Physical Education, and Sport Management programs require a secondary admission application prior to your sophomore or junior year. Preferred admission to Ross School of Business is an option for fall term freshman applicants to Sport Management only. Students who enter the Ross School of Business through regular admission may also apply to the Sport Management program. (Areas of Interest on following page)

The Residential College (RC) is a four-year liberal arts program within LSA, featuring small classes, close contact with faculty and staff, highly regarded foreign language training, and a cross-disciplinary curriculum. RC students enjoy the best of both worlds: they pursue academic study in a wide range of LSA programs and departments, while remaining grounded in a close-knit learning community in East Quadrangle on central campus. The admissions requirements, application procedures and deadlines for RC are the same as LSA. RC students can pursue a dual degree with the School of Art & Design.
