Conferences with Teachers

School-Wide Homework Policy
Theassignmentofstudenthomeworkisbasedonthediscretionoftheindividualteacher,consistentwithage-appropriateandgrade-levelexpectations.Weencourageallstudents/familiestoreadaminimumoftwenty to thirty minutes each day.
A Focus On Positive Behavior: PBIS and Discipline
PositiveBehaviorInterventionandSupports:PBISisasystematicapproachforencouragingpositivebehaviors.AtColtrane-Webb,oursystemisfoundedonthree“universals”oragreed-uponvalues:respect,responsibility,andsafety.Studentsaretaughtwhatitmeanstoberespectful,responsible,andsafeineveryareaoftheschoolcampus.Studentsarerewardedforshowingthesepositivebehaviorsbyreachinglevelsofproficiency:redlevel,bluelevel,andgoldlevel.Asstudentsmovethroughthelevels,theyreceivepraise,privileges,andprizes.
*Atthediscretionoftheprincipaland/ortheprincipal’sdesignee,studentpropertythatisbroughttoschoolandcausingadistractionordisruptiontotheschoolenvironmentareprohibited.Theywillbetakenandparents must come to the school to receive the student’s property.

Theinvolvementofparentsandcommunitymembersisanessentialcomponentofnurturingstudents.Everyefforttoinviteandconsiderparentandcommunityinputmustbemadetoensurethesuccessofourstudents.Basedonaneedsassessmentconductedin2016,ateamofparents,teachers,andadministratorsdevelopedthefollowingschool/parent/communityinvolvementplan.I. Districtparent/communityinvolvementplanandSchool-ParentCompactisdistributedto parentsandstudentsintheParent-StudentHandbook,whichisdistributedannually,atthe beginningofeachschoolyear(providedinEnglishandinSpanish).Teachersandparentsareaskedto reviewthehandbookandpolicieswiththestudentsatthebeginningoftheyear.Parentsthensignand returntheacknowledgementform.II.
