1 Look at the pictures. Read and complete the text with the correct letter.

Most people lived in houses without electricity, running water � or telephones. There was a lot of work to do in the house and children helped. Boys worked with their fathers. The girls cooked and cleaned the house 2 .

individually. They could also do it in pairs. The pupils identify the

pictures and then read the text. Help them with any new vocabulary.

They complete the text with the letter of the corresponding picture.
