FRUs and Part Number changes
About 70 new FRUs
Electronic module circuit boards (main board, power control board, and power supply) can be individually serviced and replaced.
Main board, power control board, and power supply are all new designs. Some power supply generation is done on the power control board. Allows flexibility in making power supply changes very difficult to changes and recertify power supply since it is a safety control device.
SATA hard drive. Simpler data interface.
Much more complicated ink loader. Ink stick sensing, ink stick solenoid
Jetstack heater fuse block included on printhead to comply with safety regulations in 240 VAC environment.

Ink level gas gaugesThe printer detects the level of ink sticks in the ink loader and provides "gas" gauges on the control panel.
Resistive sliders. 10% increments detected and displayed on control panel and CWIS
Used to correlate loaded ink sticks. If ink levels in loader change (increase) while printer is turned off the printer will instruct user to remove ink stick.

New printhead lock system
Printhead Wiper no longer used to lock printhead in the tilted back position. The tilt gear and release latch are used instead.

Forward Imaging new drum oiling technique
The drum oiling technique has changed. The DMU oils the drum in same rotational direction as printhead imaging

Clutch-less deskew. No reversing of deskew roller to create paper buckle. Uses overload spring plate to stall leading edge of paper for deskewing.

Improved Process Drive Mounting
More plastic structure to hold mounting screws at the mounting post base. (The equivalent of the nut plates). Process drive uses long mounting screws.
Guide/brace near upper end of process drive. Assists installation so top gear properly meshes transfix cam gear. Also braces the process drive against lateral movement.

New DM cams are more flexible. A disconnect between the shaft hub and the cam face allows the hub to be more compliant and not develop a stress point
Old DM cam was more rigid because of the solid material connection between the hub and cam face. This did not allow the hub to comply with the shaft

Modified print modes
To prevent motor damage or to improve print quality the printer may pause printing or slow down some aspect of the print process.
CPP -- cold print process. Improves FPOT. Prints before drum is fully up to operating temperature.
YAS -- Y-axis slowdown. Triggered by Y-axis following error. Slows printing to keep media drive motor from overheating. YAS slows regular media to 6.4 ppm. Slows to 3 ppm for envelopes and heavy media. Only long print jobs will be affected.
HCT -- high-coverage transfix. Slows transfix to help prevent a drum stall on Enhanced mode prints.
DDM -- duplex dropout mitigation. Slows transfix on 2nd-side page to prevent dropout in fine lines.
HFB -- high-frequency banding. Slows transfix on to prevent banding in certain halftones on Enhanced mode prints.

Wire routing and connectors
Wire harness routing is different from the preceding printer.
Drum and preheater AC harnesses are routed above drum fan away from DC harness and control lines.
Ink loader data lines connect to e-can
In addition, the control panel connects to the I/O board with a lockingzero insertion force (ZIF) connector.

EnergyStar TEC compliant
The printer uses 40% less power than its processor.
The power supply sleep behavior has changed.
Printer is shipped in Power Saving configuration vs. Productivity configuration. In its default state the printer trades a longer warm-up time before printing for lower overall energy consumption.
In its default configuration (lowest energy consumption):
Fast Resume: Off
Wake when: Job activated
Enters Standby mode following 2 minutes of inactivity.
Enters Power Saver mode after 30 minutes of inactivity.
When Fast Resume is turned on:
Fast Resume: On
Enters Standby mode following 1 hour of inactivity.
Enters Power Saver mode after 2 hours of inactivity.
Unused power supplies are deactivated immediately if not needed. 50v power supply LED (red LED on power control board) turns off even in Ready state.
Sleep/Wake control panel button behavior:
On -- OK to put to sleep
Pulsing -- in EnergyStar mode
Off -- Busy and unable to be put to sleep at this time

Samples at 2x AC cycle frequency rate -- 120 times/sec for 60 Hz grid to coincide with AC waveform peaks/valleys.

No need for dongle or 2-pin jumper
Hold CANCEL and UP while turning on printer, release after XEROX walks across screen. Printer will boot into Manufacturing Mode 1 (no POST or PEST, thermals on). Control panel will be black/white reversed.
Allows for flashing firmware while in error state with non-printing FW flash file
