Custom Designed Stained Glass Leaded Window by Mary Helsaple - 1974 Colorado's Eastern Prairie & Pikes Peak This one of a kind art panel is made of clear faceted West German glass in forest and bright greens. These pieces are set among opalescent glass in ambers, deep golds, semi-opaque Cathedral glass streaked in blues and white for the sky. The scene is of the Colorado Front Range of Eastern Colorado, looking south from the ridge of Monument, Colorado. The panel shows the for- mation profile of Elephant Rock in the Ponderosa Pines with a distant view of ‘Americas’ Mountain - Pikes Peak. Also shown is the USAFA ridge, and the profile of the Cheyenne Mountain. The side lights are matched with accented colors of West German Glass, Catherdral and Opalescent glass in greens and amber. This Stained Glass panel was first exhibited at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center, Invitational exhibition, “Pikes Peak - The Ultimate Landmark” in 1979. The panel was also displayed later at the newly built Pikes Peak Center in Downtown Colora- do Springs, during one of it’s many Fine Art exhib- its featuring regional artists. The size of the window is 42” wide X 82” tall and sandwiched between two clear sheets of glass and sealed with silacone rubber. This panel is ready to drop into a wood or metal door frame by any glass company. All the center glass pieces are free formed and surrounded with lead ‘U’ channel. This central design is surrounded with Zinc channel for strength and durability. Helsaple, designed and constructed this panel for her own use and had planned to install it in a com- mercial building or community facility in Colorado. Life got busy, and the panel went into storage for 30 years. The panel currently resides with the artist and she is looking for a permenant location for this stunning work of art representing the Colorado Springs Region.
