Going Ons in the Colorado Chapter Looking ahead, there will be a car and aircraft show along with a swap meet at Front Range Airport on May 28, 2016. Plans are being finalized and the chapter will probably have swap space and a food concession. On June 4th is the BPOC show at the Boot Barn in Greenwood Village and we are a co-host of this show. On June 11 will be Cruzin’ Havana with the Chapter managing one of the site on the cruising route. And, the National POCI show will be in Bettendorf, IA in July. Bettendorf is not a bad drive from Colorado so let’s be talking about a caravan to the convention. On June 18th, the Rocky Mountain Olds Club has a small show at First National Bank (Westminster Branch) car show for ANY make and model, from 9 to noon. The bank is located on the north east corner of Wadsworth Pkwy and Church Ranch. Free admission and fun. Our fiscal year is May 1 to April 30 which means that dues notices will be sent out in a few weeks. The dues will remain at $25 per year. A portion of the dues goes to the Collector Car Council Of Colorado to support their efforts to be involved in the State legislature watching out for our interest in the car hobby. We also make charitable contribution to area organizations. The Collector Car Council has set up a Political Action Committee (PAC) to support State law mak-ers who are considerate of people involved in the car hobby. More information on the PS is in min-utes of the CCCC –see pages 3 and 4 of this newsletter. Financial support can be made by indi-viduals. Spring is not far away. Let’s enjoy the cars and get involved in the Chapter activities along with the may car events in Colorado.

Minutes of Meeting, 2 March 2016

The meeting was held at the Forney Transportation Museum, 4303 Brighton Blvd., Denver Colorado The meeting was called to order at 7:26 pm by President Dick Thompson. Officers in attendance were Dick Thompson, president; Tom Mansfield, 1st vice president; Samantha Baker, 2nd vice president; Dick Fritz, secre-tary; and Tom Kay, treasurer. 35 member clubs were represented. Guests and new representatives were intro-duced. New reps are reminded to check with Dick Thompson to have name tags made up. Political Action Committee (PAC): Leo Boyle reported that the application for the PAC has been filed with the Colorado Secretary of State and a checking account is being set up with Vectra Bank. The official name of the PAC is Friends of Collector Cars Political Committee. Ted Rossi will create a donation card for contribu-tions as the committee must report names and addresses of donors. Please be aware that clubs with 501(c) 3 status can not contribute. Dick Thompson, Leo Boyle, and Ted Rossi can attend club meetings to explain the PAC. No contributions to candidates “favorably inclined to our interests” will be made until after the primaries in June. Legislation: Leo Boyle reviewed two bills that were introduced in the Senate but which have subsequently been “postponed indefinitely”, which translates as “killed”. SB16-011 proposed to end diversion of “FASTER” registration fees to transit-related projects. SB16-018 proposed to reduce traffic being impeded when a slow-moving vehicle holds up more than five other vehicles. The more subjective impeding provisions in the current CRS (CRS 42-4-1113) are still in effect and should be remembered by clubs holding road tours. Hearings are yet to be held on HB16-1293. This bill proposes to add a “total loss brand” to a vehicle’s title when (1) an insurance company has paid a claim for a reported stolen vehicle; (2) the vehicle is found to need repairs whose cost exceed the value of the vehicle; or (3) the vehicle has been designated as a total loss by an insurer as a result of damage. This is similar to the “salvage title” issue which we dealt with several years ago. Hagerty /Auto-Archives Open House. Hagerty has temporarily relocated to 4865 Ward Rd. in Wheat Ridge and they have invited car enthusiasts to attend a free informal car show and open house at the new location on Saturday, April 8th from 9 am to 5 pm. Morning coffee & donuts and lunch at noon will be provided. RSVP by April 8th to Sara Bain: [email protected] or phone 231-929-6172. Dick Thompson has been in discussions with Hagerty about the difficulty young potential car enthusiasts encounter obtaining classic car insurance.

CCCC Minutes Cont’d page 2 Lincoln Tech Hot Rod Car Show: April 2. CCCC clubs are encouraged to support this car show as we would like to develop a working relationship with Lincoln Tech. This is a way to promote interest among younger enthusiasts.

EPA Proposal regarding motorsports modifications: SEMA is organizing opposition to a recently re-leased EPA document that would enforce prohibition of modification to certified engines for racing purposes whether or not that vehicle is also driven on the street. SEMA regards this as overstepping history of accep-tance of motorsports activities and requests that that segment of the regulation due to be released in July be eliminated. Subsequently, a bill has been introduced in the US House of Representatives identified as “Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2016” (H.R. 4715, RPM Act of 2016) and SEMA urges en-thusiasts to contact their representatives of support this bill.

Swap Meet at Front Range Airport: Tom Kay reported that the contract with Pit Rally and Front Range Air-port has been signed. Vendor move in will begin at noon Friday, May 27. Fees will be $35 for swap spaces and $20 for car corral. The swap meet will be on Saturday, May 28. The War Bird Air Show and Car Show will be both Saturday and Sunday. We need to advertise for vendors immediately. There will be a signup for volunteer workers at the April CCCC meeting.

It will be necessary for the Swap Meet committee to compile a budget for the event and submit the budget to the Council for approval. Cruiz’n Havana: [June 11]: Dick Thompson described special displays (Mecum Auction, FRR NASCAR race car, American National Insurance, etc.) that will be at sites. Aurora police will be hired. Public Relations: Jim Nielsen recommended taking visitors and guests for rides in collector cars, and make visits to schools. Next Meeting: Wednesday, April 6th, 2016 at the Falcon Police Station, 7850 Goddard St., Colorado Springs Colorado. This is just south of I-25 exit 150. Meeting will start at 7:30 pm.
