the coligny calendar
the coligny calendar was created, according to historians,
between 100bc and 100ad, though the system is believed to be much older.
the original bronze tablet was found near coligny, ain, france in 1897. although
the original is not circular, it is a soli-lunar calendar, meaning that it is based on the rotations of both the sun
and moon beginning near harvest.
it has 12 months for 2 1/2 years, with an extra month in the middle of the
third year. according to its continuous progression, the
year 2015ad is the third year in sequence.
