Under 14 Academy Team

U14`s Academy 0 v 1 Ballymoney UtdFootball again proved how cruel the game can be as the U14`s dominated most of tonight’s play at half time going in at 0 v 0 where a couple of goals advantage should have been a fair reflection of the dominance Coleraine had. Then the second half as it went on scoreless Ballymoney gained in confidence and with 5 minutes to go won a corner and the sucker punch for the Academy when a Ballymoney player dispatched the corner with his head to break Coleraine`s hearts. Some great football shown tonight but we have to learn to take our chances a big improvement on Saturday`s performance keep

up the good work and the results will come.Cookstown Yths 1 v 0 U14`s AcademyAnother game where the Academy played some wonderful football against a top side and again we come away with nothing. Cookstown played very well themselves which made for a great game the Academy had a few half chances in the first half and could have gone in 1 up when Callum Whiteside shot was saved and Michael Ireland hit the rebound but a defender cleared off the line, Danny Bradley had 2 long range efforts well saved.Cookstown went close but Tom Hegan made a fabulous save to keep the

score 0 v 0 Half Time.Coleraine again started well in the second half and had 4 - 5 corners in quick succession with Glenn McPherson`s fierce header hit the keeper on the line, he then went close again with a shot which again was deflected, Callum Whiteside agonisingly went close from a Michael Ireland cross. Cookstown had their chances but Tom Hegan made another great save to keep them out, They hit the post from a fine run by their striker. Then with 7 minutes left Cookstown took the lead when a shot was saved by the Coleraine keeper and the rebound was poked home at the far post.Coleraine pressed and Callum Whiteside had the ball in the net but was given offside by the referee. Another couple of chances from corners came but Cookstown dealt with them to the final whistle.Again another great team display today but we need a bit of luck on our side one of the best youth football matches I have been involved in two great sides playing some fine football a draw would have been a fair result.
