Page 1: Coffee Breaks – A Boost to Productivity

Today, we live in a world of smart phones which has

changed the way we communicate with people. The

subtle layer of nonverbal communication that has

been in existence since the times of apes and birds is

still existent. So much so, that we can harness them

in order to enhance the productivity of employees.

Increase productivity in the workplace!

Scientists have studied employees throughout their

workday and have come to conclusions that

interactions with colleagues and breaks boost

productivity. Employees often take certain things for

granted while working.

For many coffee breaks with friends become a

matter of luxury but they are unaware of the

benefits of such breaks. In several studies, scientists

have found that interaction with peers is one of the

major boosters of productivity.

This is especially true for call centres, where fact to

fact interaction is generally not possible. These

organizations are specifically managed in a way that

employees do not get a chance to have a face to

face interaction with their colleagues.

However, research conducted on employees

working in call centres proved that taking coffee

breaks with colleagues actually have a great impact on and boost their production. For call center

employees, vending machine coffee breaks can prove to be a great productivity booster.

Here is what the research did, in detail

In order to prove their point, scientists had a group of 20 employees divided into two. One group

was allowed to take breaks with others while the other was not allowed to take breaks with their

colleagues.

When the results were established, scientists found that the opportunity for interaction with their

colleagues changed their mind-set for the whole day. They appeared less stressed were more

productive, even if they were allowed only a 15 minute break during the whole day. So cheers to

those table top coffee vending machines which help in enhancing productivity at workplaces.
