WRITE NEW BUSINESS FASTER AND EASIERGreat news! UA has developed new Life App-Packs to make writing new business faster and easier. Life App-Packs for Final Expense Whole Life and Juvenile Whole Life (UAI3176 and UAI3178 respectively) contain the application, HIPAA Authorization, bank draft form, state special forms, Applicant Acknowledgement form, and fax cover sheet, neatly wrapped in a four-color brochure. The Home Office copies of the forms are signed and returned to the Home Office with the application and the applicant keeps the rest of the booklet. Order Life App-Packs for your state using the Automated Supply Order Form on UAOnline (unitedamerican.com/logon).
UA’s Privacy and Disclosure Information booklet, UAPDI is no longer required with life applications UL14 or JUV14, provided the Applicant Acknowledgment Form and each state specific form from the Life App-Pack is completed, signed and submitted with the application.
ATTN: MONTANA AGENTSMontana’s Commissioner of Insurance has mandated a
“catch up” period for disability Medicare Supplement applicants who were enrolled in Medicare Part B prior to the 2013 requirement that extended Open Enrollment to those eligible for Medicare due to disability.
This is a one-time Open Enrollment from October 15 through December 7, 2015 for individuals who meet the following criteria:
y Those who were enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B due to disability PRIOR to October 18, 2013.
y Those who did not previously apply for coverage or were denied coverage (the applicant cannot have dropped another Medicare Supplement to take advantage of this Open Enrollment opportunity).
An applicant who qualifies for this “catch up” Open Enrollment will have pre-existing conditions waiting period waived. The applicant is eligible for all Plans offered in Montana.
Please contact Agency Service at 1-800-925-7355 or email [email protected] with questions.
LIFESTYLE ANNUITY RATEThe lifestyle annuity rate for November 2015 is 3.00%.
UNDERWRITING REMINDERSUnderwriting rules related to the forms/notices required at the time of application are in place to protect the applicant and the Agent. Applications submitted without the necessary forms/notices are placed in pending status until open issues are resolved. Policies cannot be issued for applications in pending status meaning commissions are not paid unless and until policies are issued. Please review the following key points related to new business submission and recent updates to new business requirements for life insurance applications to make sure your business is getting submitted quickly so you can get paid quickly!
y Always refer to the UA Compliance Sheet for the current requirements for the state in which the applicant resides and the application will be signed.
y Be sure the Home Office has your current email address for you to receive underwriting related memos via the quickest means possible.
y Refer to the Training and Products sections of UA General Agency Office (unitedamerican.com/logon) for more information.

FROM THE:
COACH’S CORNERCOACH’S CORNERAnyone who’s ever been in a football stadium as the scoreboard clock ticks down has felt the incredible energy that fills the air during the final moments of a close game. The crowd roars, players hustle, coaches run up and down the sidelines calling in plays — there’s nothing else like it. But I’d venture to say the last few weeks of AEP can come close, at least in sheer intensity, to those final football moments. Many of you know what it’s like to make a last big push, to hurdle over obstacles, and run up the score. AEP ends on Dec. 7. Are you starting to feel the rush? If so, use that momentum to drive your activity to a strong finish.
COACH’S CALLWhile you’re out there working hard in the field, UA ‘coaches’ are pulling out all the stops to give you every scoring advantage. Most recently, we’ve made an unprecedented move to help you write new business and maintain high persistency late in the game. New ProCare HDF Policyholders with a policy effective date October 1, 2015 and after, will only be required to pay $780 in out-of-pocket expenses of the $2,180 annual deductible amount during the remainder of 2015 before policy benefits are payable by United American. How’s that for incentive? We’ve made the call, now it’s up to you to get out there and make the big plays.
Another way UA offers sideline support is through our national advertising program. UA’s ads appear in some of the industry’s most esteemed and highly circulated publications – Broker’s World,
National Underwriter, and California Broker, to name a few. Such ads not only help UA increase credibility and brand familiarity, but they also assist Agencies bring in new recruits.
DIALING INOf course, it’s not all on us here in the Home Office. You’ve got to seek out coaching when you need help. Visit UA General Agency Office online and dial into the fantastic training opportunities available to you. We’re always coming up with new topics to help improve your performance during AEP and all year long. Our newest addition to the UA webinar series is an instructional presentation on screen sharing and how you can use this technology to sell remotely. Director of e-Applications Dave Oliver makes the process look easy. For a sneak peek, check out pages eight and nine of this issue.
Dave is a perfect example of the difference a great coach can make. For those of you who missed his memo on the seven common mistakes made when filing an application, we’ve shared them again in this issue. Don’t get tripped up by being careless when you’re barreling downfield.
YOU’VE GOT THISThe best coaches motivate their teams to play harder, and give more when they don’t think they’ve got anything left. I’ll leave you with a fact I hope will inspire you to run the best two-minute drill of your life. It starts with a number – 250,000*. That’s how many people will be dropped from their
Medicare Advantage plans beginning January 1, 2016, according to our latest statistics. 250,000! What an incredible opportunity you’ve been given. Step in and pick up the ball; show them how a UA ProCare Medicare Supplement Policy can fill their needs. As one of the greatest football coaches of all time, Tom Landry, once said: “A winner never stops trying.”

Issues that Delay Application Processing
1 2 3 4
5 6 7
One of the big advantages of being on ‘Team UA’ is that your support crew always looks for ways to help you improve performance and increase production. For example, when Director of e-Applications Dave Oliver noticed applications were getting hung up because of certain, common issues, he made a list to share with Agents. As ‘Coach Dave’ notes, many of these issues can be avoided by using the iGO e-App®. It’s never too late in the game to attend an e-App certification webinar! Sign up at the UA General Agency Office website.
FAXING CHECKS INSTEAD OF MAILING
If the applicant elects bank draft, complete the necessary paperwork and submit the application on iGO e-App® or fax a paper application. If the applicant submits a premium check do not fax the application. Mail the paper application, along with the applicant’s check.
APPLICATIONS ARE TOO DARK OR LIGHT
Make sure the application is not filled out too dark or light. It will often be more distorted once it’s printed, and even more distorted when it’s scanned into the reader system.
INCORRECT APPLICATIONS
Use the correct form code. Double check the state code and determine whether or not a disability or overage application is necessary. This is very important. Again, using the iGO e-App® will ensure the application is completed accurately.
MISSING BARCODE, SCAN INDICATORS, AND APPLICATION BOXES
Anything that obscures or alters the barcodes or the boxes on the application can make the application unreadable. All barcodes must be visible and all pages must be received for applications to be processed.
MISSING APPLICANT SIGNATURES AND WHERE SIGNED INFORMATION The Home Office cannot process applications that do not have the city/state where the applicant signed the application and their signature.
APPLICATIONS RECEIVED WITHOUT INITIAL PAYMENT OR WITH ONLY A VOIDED CHECK
If premium is not received, the policy cannot be put in force. If the bank draft authorization is not submitted, the applicant cannot be set up for recurring payments.
MISSING OR INCORRECT AGENT INFORMATION
Agent information is critical for processing applications as well as giving proper credit for the sale. Three main areas must be completed:
y Agent number y Agent signature y Agent last name
If you don’t have an Agent number, don’t mark ‘pending’ in this section. The application will be submitted once you’ve been licensed and appointed. Using iGO e-App® will ensure applications are completed correctly.

REMOTE SELLINGREMOTE SELLINGCOACH CHUCK'S 4TH QUARTER CALL
MAKE IT YOUR NEXT GAME CHANGERTechnology isn’t the first word that comes to mind when you think of sports, but when you look at the big picture, technology can play a big factor in the game. Technology provides sports analysis for coaches and trainers, tracks the stats and activities of our favorite players during the game, and sometimes has a direct impact on the final score (think instant replays).
Technology can also be a game changer for your sales strategy. The technique UA uses is called screen sharing and it allows you to sell to individuals all over the country from the comfort of your home or office, using a practice known as ‘remote selling’.
WE’VE GOT YOU COVEREDWhile remote selling is nothing new, what is new is UA’s webinar ‘Remote Selling: Using Screen Sharing Effectively with our iGO e-App®’ presented by our Director of e-Applications, Dave Oliver.
In this live webinar Dave shows how easily you can use screen sharing to become successful giving presentations and closing sales. You’ll get tips on:
y Making the appointment
y Using the iGO e-App®
y Screen sharing programs such as GoToMeeting, Skype, Mikogo, join.me and Screenleap
y Projecting a professional image
y Content presentation
y Important reminders on verifying state sales regulations and product permissions
SCHEDULERemote Selling: Using Screen Sharing Effectively with our iGO e-App®
When: Every Friday (except Nov. 27) from now until Dec. 18, 2015.
Time: 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Eastern 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Central 7 a.m. – 8 a.m. Pacific
GET THE COMPETITIVE EDGERemote selling saves time and money, and keeps down the mileage on your car. It’s the most efficient way to sell. Less time on the road leaves more time for prospecting, writing more business, and last but certainly not least … making more money! Many of your prospective and existing clients will also enjoy the convenience of remote selling and the ease of a ‘non-invasive’ appointment.
MAXIMIZE YOUR OUTREACHWith the capacity to screen share, referrals are no longer confined by your geographic location. You can serve your clients’ friends and family who live in other parts of the country (provided they also have the needed technology and you're licensed and appointed, if required in the state). For potential clients wanting to find an Agent through someone they trust, you’re just a mouse click away.
DAVE OLIVER, DIRECTOR OF E-APPLICATIONS ON REMOTE SELLING:
Our Agents can now do business
with clients in any state without
traveling. When I was an Agent, it
would be nothing for me to drive an
hour, two hours, three hours, or even
sometimes more to do a single case,
turn around, and come back. The gas
money and the wear-and-tear of the
vehicle is one thing. But the more
important thing was the time aspect –
that non-productive driving time,
when I could have spent more time
prospecting or could have spent doing
more business. That’s what really cost
me the money – that’s the intangible
which is hard to see but is there.
