Co-CurricularEnrichment 2018

29 June - 3 July 2018

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the sixth year of the College Enrichment Programme. The following brochure contains all the necessary information about the activities taking place Friday 29 June to Tuesday 3 July. Our Enrichment Programme is designed to offer pupils the opportunity to experience new challenges, broaden their interests and allow for social and personal development outside the classroom.

The aim of the programme is to realise our mission of providing a holistic education which encourages development outside of the traditional academic setting. We have endeavoured to make a programme that is diverse in nature and allows outcomes for students to continue to develop wider skills for life-long learning, creating links to the major ideas, innovations and challenges that our students face in a rapidly changing society and ever evolving workplace.

Included in the description of the activities will be requirements for the students, and the price of the activity. Some activities are chargeable in order to cover costs of expert tuition or entry fees. Please refer to the daily timetable of activities which outlines what is available each day at the end of this brochure and ensure your child is only booked on one activity per day.

On Friday 29 June students will participate in compulsory activities in their year groups. These include: • Upper Third - Wise Up Team Building • Lower Fourth - Young Enterprise Programme • Upper Fourth - Duke of Edinburgh • Lower Fifth - Lakeside YMCA

Enrichment Student Requirements During the days of Enrichment, students are not required to come to school in uniform but should ensure their clothing is appropriate for and suitable for the activity they are doing. We would appreciate, when it comes to student attire, cooperation from parents who should check their children before they are sent to the College. Failure to adhere to these conditions will see students removed from trips they have paid for and sent home to change.

Girls - Should not come in dresses, skirts or shorts that are short in nature. Due to health and safe-ty issues and the variety of practical activities taking place, closed shoes will need to be worn at all times regardless or your chosen activity.Boys – Should not come in trousers or shorts that have no belt or wearing vests. Due to health and safety issues and the variety of practical activities taking place, closed shoes will need to be worn at all times regardless or your chosen activity. Also students should be aware that the programme is exactly the same in nature as a normal timetabled academic week. Again, we hope to see great cooperation in your efforts. Students should arrive on time for all the activities they have been timetabled. They must not decide to change activities or swap with another student. There will be registers taken at every activity.

Lastly there is one rule regarding mobile phones and music players during the programme and that is that they are not to be used or seen. Students will have these removed from them if they are seen in any of the activities.

We hope that you are as excited about participating in this programme as we are in delivering it. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to get in touch at [email protected]

Kind Regards,

Mr Michael GallagherDirector of Co-curricular
