WHAT IS EDUCATION?

Education is the key for the success of any country and the betterment of any individual.

There are different approaches towards education and it depends on the culture and mindset of different races.

More precisely, there is a difference between the approaches as far as education is concerned in the western countries and in India.

In fact, there are clear cut differences in the objective of education in both sides.

The foreign students take education more like a learning process.

They opt for the line they are fascinated with and go only for that course and line of career.

In this procedure, they likely wait for the right kind of job and don't really consider time as an obstruction.

The objective of education in India is more concerned with getting a high salaried job, overseas chances, better marriage prospects and increased status in society.

Analysts have also said that the difference is like hell and heaven when it comes to competition, aptitude and the job markets in both zones.

Abroad the things are more relaxed due to the lesser population, more streamlined procedure and lack of unfair means, things are quite different when we talk about India.

Money becomes the root cause because the higher courses are very expensive and can be taken only on an education loan.

So, it is more about circumstances than choices for many students. There are many people in India who are not financially sound so they choose their courses according to their affordability.

Co-curricular•Co-curricular activities or extra curricular activities are those activities that fall outside the academic curriculum meant for the recreation of students. •These activities are considered as an important part of education at all levels. •Are generally carried out to improve the quality of education and making students better citizens. Most of the schools and colleges around the world facilitate these activities to deliver high quality education and shaping the future of young children. •Co-curricular activities has been made compulsory in many educational set-ups while it is optional in others. These involve activities like :- Sports, Astronomy, Arts, Debates and many others.

DIFFERENT COUNTRIES WITH THEIR EDUCATION AND CO CURRICULAR SYSTEMS.

India It has been believed that students who participate in

various extra-curricular activities during their academics perform much better in their job and personal life.

Being only intelligent in academics would not going to help in this tough world, one should have equal participation in other fields as well.

Co-curricular activities, thus play an important role in the overall development of an individual.

However there is another side of the story. Many parents believe that making co-curricular activities an  important part of curriculum is not right as it's not necessary that everyone has an equal interest in each activity. As everyone has a different interest, you can't force everyone to take part in those programs which they don't like. Other than that, as both academics and co-curricular activities seem equally demanding, students find it difficult to perform well in both of them. According to parents, if these activities are voluntary, they prove beneficial.

Australia Australia is famed for its outdoor lifestyle, and we

make full use of the unique environment that surrounds us in our Outdoor Education Program.

Students develop survival and leisure skills both during the program and at year level camps where activities include canoeing, orienteering and surfing.

Students participate at every level and perform in six debates over several months.

Education in Australia is primarily the responsibility of the

state. Each state or territory government

provides funding and regulates the public and private schools within its governing area.

The federal government helps fund the public universities, but is not involved in setting curriculum.

Generally, education in Australia follows the three-tier model which includes primary education (primary schools), followed by secondary education (secondary schools/high schools) and tertiary education (universities and/or TAFE colleges).

The annual debate with the Catholic Ladies College is always thought provoking and lively, while the Legacy Public Speaking Competition always has at least one speaker from the College.

Our boys display the “powers of communication” at competition level and our recent successes include:

Representation in the VCAA Public Speaking Competition and the Legacy Public Speaking Competition. The DAV season has just come to its end with five debates and the C grade team and the D grade team will be in the Finals soon.

China, officially the peoples (republic of china) is the worlds most popular country with the population of over 1.3 billion. Covering approximately 9.6 million sq. km, the east Asian state is the worlds second largest country by land area, and the third largest in total area.

CHINA

To ensure every Chinese kid is physically active and fit, PE lessons are planned to be fun and robust where pupils learn knowledge, attitude and skills as fundamental as throwing and catching as well as various folk dances and games concepts. Besides learning skills to master the fundamental movements, dance and rhythm, pupils learn to live and demonstrate the values such as fair play, sportsmanship, teamwork and consideration for others as they play, dance, exercise and interact with their classmates.

PE indeed plays an important role in the overall holistic development of the pupils and paves the way to inspire and lead the pupils to live a healthy and active lifestyle throughout their life. CCAs are an integral part of the holistic, well-rounded education that MOE seeks to provide for students. CCAs help to nurture in students qualities like resilience, tenacity, confidence and perseverance, which, in turn, develop strength of character that will enable them to better adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing world”, Ministry of Education. Pupils are offered enrichment classes such as badminton, table tennis, choir, Chinese Orchestra, just to name a few.

EGYPT

The Egypt schools believe that student involvement in co-curricular activities is a vital part of education and that participation in a well organized and diverse program of activities under the direction of qualified sponsors and advisors provides students with opportunities to learn critical lessons. The schools are designed to enhance and complement the academic program and our students are encouraged to achieve a manageable balance of co-curricular and academics.

With the goal of providing an opportunity for as many students as possible, choices in the High School range from Musicals to the Astronomy Club and from Model United Nations (MUN) to Student Government. In the Elementary School, students have a Varity of after-school activities by choice and this year, the Middle school has introduced a “no-cuts” athletic program.

United Kingdom

UK schools aim to provide an excellent all-round education so that every pupil can achieve their full potential academically and socially . They do not believe that raw results alone show the true measure of a school. It is far more important that each individual achieves his or her very best . They take greater pride therefore from our position as one of the top schools in the country in enhancing the performance of our students.

A truly excellent education is about much more than academic achievement alone: it is also about developing a passion for learning, capacity for independent thinking, moral values, self-confidence without arrogance, and a broad range of interests that extend beyond the confines of the classroom. In short, it is developing the whole person, to ensure that each pupil leaves here ready for the challenges that lie ahead. It is an education for life.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EDUCATION SYSTEM OF UK AND INDIA

There is a large difference between the education system in India and in the UK. The student-teacher relationship is far

simpler and strong in a country like UK as opposed to India. The technology and the

resources available, especially for a subject like Drama, are extensive in the UK. The

freedom given and the independent study time available where the student is not

cramped with university obligations is also taken into consideration.

Apart from a stimulating academic experience, the University provides a range of student support facilities that are very helpful for a new arrival to the city. From the practical necessities of accommodation and healthcare to socials and sports facilities, the university offices take care to address various student needs.

The 'studying' atmosphere is totally different, you are more at ease to work at your own pace and a lot or rather everything depends on the effort you put in to your work. The teaching style and methodology are designed in a way that it provokes the practicality and the research ability of an individual. Over all, UK has a better education system compared to INDIA.
