MEET SOPHIA

With thirteen years of experience in fashion, Sophia Coloma has worked as a creative director and designer on a number of projects which have all gained huge media attention and international recognized awards.

Currently she is creative director of Whitley Kros, a clothing line that she and Marissa Ribisi started three years ago. In that short time the brand has been featured over 60 publications including Vogue, Elle, Instyle, Lucky and featured on TV shows such as E News, Daily 10, and The Hills; participated in major retailer collaborations with Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie; and has been sold in over five dozen stores in domestically and abroad. Whitley Kros has been nominated for several awards including Forbes Top 10 Undiscovered Designers on the Rise, Mercedes Benz Highlight Designer 2009, and Ecco Domani Semi-Finalist. It is a favorite of celebrities including Blake Lively, Kate Hudson, Courtney Cox, Christina Aguilera, Taylor Swift, and Rachel McAdams, to name a few.

Prior to Whitley Kros, Coloma was brought on board the Satine Boutique creative team. During her time at Satine, the boutique went from a popular destination for in-the-know Angelenos to a A-List celebrity favorite (fans included Cameron Diaz, Nicole Richie, Demi Moore, and stylist Rachel Zoe) and nationally recognized retailer responsible for selecting the next big names in fashion. Coloma started collaboration programs including an in-house accessories collection which was nominated by GenArt and a partnership with Italian shoemaker Rodo. The store received two Style Leader awards from Harper’s Bazaar and two L.A. Fashion Awards nominations for top retailer.

In addition to Whitley Kros, she adds her creative prowess to everything from styling fashion and art directing photo shoots such as New York Moves Jan 2011 celebrity campaign consulting clients on creative direction both in the U.S. and internationally. She is a contributing writer for E and Shoplift Magazine and is an active scout for DailyCandy. Coloma has been featured in several magazines including InStyle, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and Lucky among others. E News has dedicated a special segment to her style. In her free time, Coloma styles some of Hollywood’s hottest talent for red carpet events.
