PC Energy Consumption is just as important

This waste adds up quickly.

• The global information and

communications technology industry

accounts for approximately 2 percent of

global CO2 emissions1

• Energy costs will be 50 percent of the

average IT budget in just a few years2

• By 2010, about half of the Forbes

Global 2000 will spend more on energy

than on hardware3

• There are 1 billion+ PCs worldwide,

projected to be 2.25 billion by 20154

Today’s Environment

• The average desktop PC wastes

nearly half the power it consumes

• Servers lose approximately one-

third of their power as heat

• 90 percent of desktops do not

utilize power management

Call to Action

•“A rising tide floats all boats”

John F. Kennedy (borrowed from Sean Lemass)

• Climate Savers Computing is rooted in the belief that our collective impact is far greater

than what can be accomplished through individual organizational efforts.

• We need leaders, first movers to take these first steps, make an impact now and

represent their industry while preparing their organizations for the future.

• Climate Savers Smart Computing practices are good for both your organization‟s

bottom line, brand as well as the environment:

• Reduce wasted electricity from the operation of computers and shift potentially $M‟s

to other parts of your business.

• Establish a proof point and enhance your brand thru an active leadership position.

•Evaluate and deploy power management.

•Join Climate Savers Computing Initiative.

•We need your help to move from the inefficient to the

most sustainable, energy efficient approach.
