THE JOYFUL NOISE, “WE ARE ONE” CAPITAL DISTRICT – The Joyful Noise was a contemporary Christian music ministry well known in the Capital District re-gion and beyond, during the years of 1969-1993. The Joyful Noise was a large group of young people, led spiritually and musically by Mr. Bill Womer. The Joyful Noise was the core of what would later evolve into “Christian Music Ministries”. The positive side of social media, as well as the unfortunate pass-ing of key members, has stirred interest in a reunion of The Joyful Noise, with the recognition, that still, “We are One”. A reunion is planned for October 10, 2015 focused on reunit-ing and catching up. The reunion will culminate with a bar-beque dinner and an evening Praise and Worship service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Many of the songs spanning three decades when young lives were forever impacted by this experience will be sung together again. We will also be including all the parents and family members in the Satur-day night service who supported each of us during our “JN” years. During these early planning stages we are interested in help locating former members, and identifying folks to assist on various committees that have been formed. Please visit the Facebook page for Christian Music Ministries if you are a former member and want to connect, or contact us at [email protected]

Tyke

Charlotte

11 Babies of Love

Say hello to Charlotte, A twelve week old hound/bulldog mix. She loves attention and is a typical

playful puppy. She would be great for an active fam-ily with lots of kids and a fenced in yard. She loves

kids and other dogs to play with. She is vet checked, has two sets of shots, de-wormed and more.

Tyke has kind of a funny story on how he was rescued and I am so glad that we did. He is absolutely wonder-ful. About two weeks back we received an email with pictures of dogs that needed rescue from a kill facility

in the Carolina’s. In the way corner of the picture there was this dog with his head tilted asking “What about me?” Something just tugged at my heart strings and I

called facility to ask the story on the Brown and White dog. They said his time was almost up and heneeded

rescue. He was a bigger puppy about 4 months old and was brought in by Animal Control. I knew we had to save him. We payed for his vetting and transport and he is here now at the shelter safe and sound. Please come and meet him. He is adorable, wondeful and

would make a great addition to any family.

These puppies and their mama were taken in by a wonderful

woman who kept them safe until we could arrange for transport. She is keeping the mom and the babies have all been vet checked,

de-wormed and have received their age appropriate shots. They are

9 week old lab mixes and they all have wonderful personalities.

The meeting will be a welcome back and plan-ning meeting. Interested prospective members are encouraged to attend. Re-freshments will be served. The regular meeting place for the Club is the Rexford Fire House on Route 146 but the first meeting was moved due to a scheduling conflict. The Club meets monthly on the second Thursday of the month at the Rexford Fire House from September to May, usually with a speaker. The Club is always looking for new members to help with their projects and enjoy good company while do-ing good works. The current two-year project of President Linda deCruz-Harper focuses on early childhood literacy for children ages 0 to 8 years. They have collected over 650 new and gently used books and distributed over 350 to at-risk populations through various outlets such as food pantries, Head Start classes, neighborhood homework

help sites, and Domestic violence Shelters. Another new project this year for the Club was preparing a meal in July for 35 guests at the Ronald McDonald House in Albany. Other yearly projects include providing scholar-ships for High school seniors, support for female veterans, adopt a family at Thanksgiv-ing and Christmas, sponsor-ing contests for High school students in arts, crafts and creative writing with cash prizes, semi-annual Adopt-

a-Roadside and providing an annual Un-birthday Party for troubled teenage girls at St Anne Institute. The Club is part of the New York State Federation of Woman’s Clubs and General Federation of Woman’s Clubs. NOVENA PRAYER TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN (Never known to fail). Oh, most beautiful flower of Mt. Carmel, fruitful vine splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me, herein you are my mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to answer me in this necessity. There are none that can withstand your power. Oh, show me herein you are my mother. Oh, Mary con-ceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3x). Holy Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Sweet mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Holy Spirit, you who solve all problems, light all roads so that I can attain my goal, you who gave me the divine gift to forgive and forget all evil against me and that in all instances in my life you are with me, I want in this short prayer to thank you for all things as you confirm once again that I never want to be separated from you in eternal glory. Thank you for your mercy towards me and mine. The person must say this prayer 3 consecutive days, after 3 days the request will be granted. This prayer must be published after the favor is granted. SAFE SCHOOL CARPOOLING

Students have a few differ-ent options to get to and from school. In areas where school bus service is pro-vided, children have an easy way to get to class each day. But if no bus service is avail-able, students must be driv-en to school by their parents or neighbors.

Busy parents frequently ban together to form carpooling teams to ensure students get to school on time. Car-pooling is eco-friendly, con-venient and can foster stron-ger relationships between students and the parents of those students. Sharing rides also can be fun for kids

and motivate them to get out the door so they can see their friends.

Safety should be a priority for carpoolers, and drivers can take the following steps to ensure kids get to school safely.

• Know the laws regarding safety seats as they pertain to age, weight and height.

• Each child will need to ride in a seat that is appropriate and shortcuts should not be taken. If there isn’t room in the vehicle to sit all chil-dren comfortably and in the proper restraint, then you must reduce the number of passengers in your vehicle.

• Children should ride in the backseat of the vehicle as a priority. Many kids can be safely moved to the front seat around age 13.

• Instruct children to remain in their seats until the car has come to a complete stop. Only then should they remove their seatbelts.

• Make sure students enter and exit the vehicle on the curb side instead of on the street side.

• Instruct passengers to keep their hands and heads inside of the vehicle. If necessary, engage child locks on doors and windows.

• Do not leave a child alone at an empty home in the af-ternoon. Wait until you see a child go inside his or her home before you drive away.

• Keep the radio low and minimize distractions while driving others.

Carpooling is a great way for parents to share the respon-sibility of getting kids to and from school.

DID YOU KNOW?The school buses many Americans are accustomed to seeing in their neighbor-hoods trace their origins to educator and author Dr. Frank Cyr, Ph.D. Dr. Cyr spe-cialized in rural education and, in 1939, organized a conference at Teachers Col-lege, Columbia University in New York City with the inten-tion of standardizing trans-portation for students on their way to and from school. Representatives from several notable corporations, in-cluding engineers from auto manufacturers Chevrolet, Dodge and Ford and paint experts from DuPont, at-tended the conference. The fruits of that conference are still paying dividends even now, as one of the more no-table developments to result from the conference was the decision to paint buses yel-low with black lettering to make them easier to see in the early morning and late afternoon. That decision continues to protect the mil-lions of school children who ride the bus to and from school today.
