Dear Executive Partner and Cruise Line Members,
Welcome to London!
Our first ever Summit at Sea for CLIA members took place early last month and the feedback from delegates distinguished it as our highest-rated event to date. Today, we are honoured to welcome many of you back for the second Port & Destination Forum in London.
The first Forum, in 2015, was a late addition to our existing calendar, to take advantage of the CLIA Europe Port & Destination Sub-Committee meeting in London. We were positively surprised by the number of delegates it attracted, 75 in total, underlining it as an opportunity to have an informal gathering of key players within this community, ahead of Seatrade Global Cruise. We are overwhelmed by the popularity and demand for the 2016 Forum, which increased more than 50% on last year.
Suggestions from last year’s Forum included extending the event to include dinner, as well as increasing the engagement of shore excursion-focused cruise line executives. We have incorporated this feedback into today’s schedule and hope you will make the most of the enhanced platform. Today’s agenda is primarily built around the “Cruise Industry Confidence Barometer” which addresses key topics of interest for the Port & Destination Community, followed by a more in-depth examination of the future role of port agents.
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the 21 cruise line executives for making the time to join us today despite busy calendars, and of course to our Executive Partners, for their thoughtful, constructive feedback and continued support.
We would like to extend special thanks to our loyal supporters from Cruise Port Kotka, Finland as well as our generous venue host, Hill Dickinson LLP and program sponsor, Ports of Tenerife.
Last but not least, Michel Nestour, Carnival Corp. & Plc. deserves recognition for his consistent commitment to challenging the status quo and supporting the development of this Forum.
We wish you an enjoyable, engaging and informative afternoon and evening and as always, look forward to receiving your feedback.
On behalf of the CLIA team,
Bo Larsen VP, Strategic Partnerships Cruise Lines International Association
