An engine thats powerfuland fuel efficient.Now thats an idea.

The ingenious 1.8 litre SOHC i-VTEC engine contained

within both the Civic VTi and VTi-L, generates 103kW o

power and 174Nm o torque, yet uses only 6.9 litres o

uel per 100km in the manual transmission*. This means

it delivers the power you would expect rom a 2.0 litre

engine but has the uel economy o a 1.5 litre.

How could this be possible, you ask? Its all thanks to our

i-VTEC engine. Through the use o innovative valve control

timing, it maximises the amount o power and torque rom

every drop o uel. Then o course theres the Civic Sport

and its impressive 2.0 litre engine which delivers 114kW

o power @ 6200 rpm and 188Nm o torque @ 4200 rpm.

Or or the more environmentally conscious, theres our

Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV), the Civic Hybrid ~. With

its combined use o a petrol engine and electric motor it

uses a mere 4.6 litres o uel per 100km*. And thats why,

as we like to say, the Civic 'drives every drop'.

From its adjustable ront and rear head restraints to

fush-mounted door handles that seamlessly mould with

the interior, the Civic has been designed to please.

Electronic Brake-orce Distribution (EBD), which works

simultaneously with our Anti-lock Braking System

(ABS). Together they control the ront and rear brake

distribution, improving braking stability and perormance

and preventing rear-end steering in emergency braking

situations. Another ingenious eature is our Vehicle

Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction Control which is

standard on all Civic models. Its designed to detect

wheel-slip and combines braking and control o the

engine's power to regain traction. To help saeguard

What ifthere was a car

that only emitted water?

Obviously the world would be a better place and the good

news is, such a car already exists: The Honda FCX Clarity.

It works by converting hydrogen into electricity, which

leaves you with only one emission, H2O. And in 2008,

this totally new uel-cell vehicle went into production.

What ifwe had our own solarcell production company?

In recent times Honda has branched out into mass

solar cell production. Hondas unique C.I.G.S. solar cell

produces the highest level o conversion eciency in

the thin lm category and only requires hal the energy

to manuacture, so its more environmentally riendly

throughout its entire lie. Why does a vehicle company

produce solar cells? Purely so we know that we are doing

everything possible to help prevent global warming. What ifa plane had its engines

mounted on top of the wing?

Well, it would be original and it would be called the

HondaJet. Secondly, the engines would have to be in a

special position on the wing we call The Sweet Spot.

That would then result in less drag at high speeds, 30%

better uel economy and because there is no need or

structural engine mounts on the uselage, 30% more

cabin space.

extreme conditions possible?

At Honda we have always believed that racing is

undamental to our development. Its the ultimate

or lose, the same question is always asked how can
