    City introduces Rosenzweig as

    Centennial Celebration Committee chair

    In recognition

    of the City of

    Beverly Hills

    100th anniver-

    sary, the City is

    planning an 18-

    month centen-nial celebration

    that will kick

    off in Summer

    2013 and con-

    tinue until the

    end of 2014.

    On Tuesday afternoon, the City Council

    ntroduced Dick Rosenzweig as the chair

    of the 100th Anniversary Committee that

    will work with Mayor Barry Brucker,

    Councilmember Lili Bosse, and City staff to

    plan the celebration.

    Rosenzweig is president of the Wallis

    Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts

    and retired executive vice president of

    Playboy Enterprises. His civic involvement

    includes serving as a Conference & Visitors

    Bureau board member and Citizens Budget

    Review Committee member, and past presi-

    dent of both the Chamber of Commerce and

    CVB.

    We have many, many ideas and we will

    be looking to every area of the community,the residents, the hoteliers, the restaurateurs,

    everyone in the community who would

    like to be involved in this celebration,

    Rosenzweig said.

    Rosenzweig highlighted a number of cele-

    bratory events the committee is considering,

    including a Happy Birthday Beverly Hills

    concert at the Saban Theatre in Summer

    2013, a film festival at the Academy of

    Motion Picture Arts & Sciences featuring

    movies filmed in Beverly Hills, and a dis-

    play of historical photos in the Beverly Hills

    Library. The events taking place in 2013 will

    be a drum roll leading up to the celebra-

    tion of Beverly Hills centennial year during

    2014, Rosenzweig said.

    The City has allocated $250,000 for the

    celebration from the current fiscal years

    tourism and marketing budget, with the

    expectation a similar amount will be allocat-

    ed in the next two fiscal years during the City

    Councils budget process. For additional

    funding, the City is considering establishinga corporate sponsorship program with help

    from Argus Group, a consultant that would

    reach out to potential sponsors.

    The City also plans to develop a merchan-

    dising program through its branding agree-

    ment with William Morris Endeavor, and a

    100th anniversary logo.

    meeting to be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., in the Council

    to the Citys existing circulation system by vacating a small segment of existingalley. The vacation will not impact circulation patterns and will not cause anyexpansion of the existing system.

    AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEVERLY HILLS EXTENDING INTERIMORDINANCE 11-O-2608 PROHIBITING HIGH IMPACT CONVENIENC

    STORES UNLESS SPECIFICALLY APPROVED BY THE CITY, ANDECLARING THE URGENCY THEREOF.

    This Ordinance would extend the prohibition on the establishment of new himpact convenience stores as defined in the ordinance, unless the City is ato make specific findings to assure the use would not affect the surround

    neighborhoods in a negative manner.

    As required by Government Code Section 65858(d), the City will issue a wr i
