In 1981, HARMAN engineers pioneered JBL Bi-Ra-dial® technology included in JBL 4675 speaker, a cin-ema industry standard that was even installed in the Motion Picture Academy’s Goldwyn Theater in Bev-erly Hills, the industry’s reference theater in 1984.

HARMAN Professional Solutions has eight decades of experience, going back to the 1930’s, when James B. Lansing, future founder of JBL, helped MGM create a better-performing sound system tailored for cine-ma. Lansing was awarded a special Scientific Technical Award from the Motion Picture Academy in 1936 in recognition of the team’s achievement.

Lansing continued leading innovation in cinema au-dio, eventually founding JBL in 1946. A year later in 1947, Clarence C. Moore founded the company that would eventually be Crown Audio.

In 1971, MIT professor Dr. Francis Lee helped found Lexicon. JBL began developing new and innovative studio monitors during this same period, and Lex-icon signal processors and JBL studio monitors be-came a well-known post-production duo that con-tinues to this day.

In the 1990's, HARMAN introduced the JBL 5674, the first modern 3-way screen channel system, and in 1996, the Goldwyn Theater was updated again. HARMAN later developed the groundbreaking JBL ScreenArray® system, and in 2001, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored HAR-MAN engineers with Technical Achievement Awards for the technology employed in the ScreenArray sys-tems and the 4675 speakers.

HARMAN innovation continues on to this day. Prod-ucts from JBL, Crown, Lexicon, BSS and more can be found in studio post-production, exhibition theaters and professional cinemas worldwide.

BLU 50: The BLU-50 is a half-rack width processor that offers a fixed configuration of four inputs and four outputs, configurable signal processing, logic processing and BLU link. The device can be powered with the included 12VDC power supply but can accept 12-48VDC via a terminal block connector. The BLU-50 can also be powered with PoE+ via the Ethernet port, allowing the device to be powered, configured, controlled and monitored using a single Cat 5e cable.

BLU 160: The Soundweb London BLU-160 offers con-figurable I/O, configurable signal processing and a high bandwidth, fault tolerant digital audio bus. The BLU-160 has open architecture which is fully configurable through HiQnet™ London Architect. A rich palette of processing and logic objects and a “drag and drop” method of config-uration provide a simple and familiar design environment. This processor features a low latency, fault tolerant digital audio bus of 256 channels which uses standard Category 5e cabling giving a distance of 100m between compatible devices. Fiber optic media converters can be used to in-crease the distance between devices to over 40km.

Control 10 Series in-ceiling loudspeakers meet the increased market demand for superior sound quality, installation-friendly features and value, delivering a level of sonic performance unmatched by comparably priced products.
