12th AnnualChristmas Toy Drive

Dear Alumni and Friends of Cathedral High School,

We want to thank you all for your generosity and support for our annual Christmas Toy Drive. As many of you know, each year this event has exceeded everyones expectations thanks to the generosity of people such as you. With the help of our CHS cheerleaders, the Class of 1962 has brought joy and happiness to under-privileged families who are unable to buy gifts for their children. We accepted the challenge in helping to make a difference and were so humbled by the sincere reaction of the families (especially the children) that we promised to continue our effort on a yearly basis. With your generosity, we all can once again make it happen. Please open your hearts to reach those families that can use your help.

Thank you and God Bless

FALL 2013 - CHS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER

W ere already approaching the end of the year (I cant believe it either). Three more issues created and shared with the entire Cathedral family

and once again, I must give a big thanks to all those who made it possible. As we approach another year of taking Phantoms both back in time and into the present-day CHS, I want to use this issues Editors message to simply thank all those who have made the first 7 issues of the CHS Alumni Newsletter possible. Without your time, photos, stories, and other donations, this newsletter would not exist.

Thank you all for another great year. Wishing you and your loved ones a fantastic holiday. William Gallegos 89 Editor, CHS Alumni Newsletter

PRESIDENTS CORNERHector Roman 76 Greetings Phantoms What a year 2013 has been and how quickly it is coming to an end. We started out the year by making you laugh at the annual Comedy Night, we then got you on the dance floor and with your classmates at perhaps our greatest Return to Cathedral Gala ever, and on November 10th, we will close the year off by giving a big thanks to those fellow Phantoms, along with the other brave men and women who served our country, at our Veterans day celebration (see ad on back page). Because of your presense at these events, we were once again to able to give back roughly 2 dozen young Phantoms at our annual Brother Gus Scholarship presentation. As always, we thank you. With 2014 approaching, what better way to start out the year by attending our monthly alumni meetings (taking place the first wednesday of each month). Meetings take place at 7pm at the Melvin Henderson-Rubio Conference room (overlooking the football field). Meetings include a 50/50 drawing (with 50% going back to the school), complimentary dinner and drinks, and the opportunity of meeting CHS graduates from the past 50+ years (including those who you may be seeing for first time since your days as a CHS student). Thanks to social media and our newsletter, attendance at our monthly meetings went up this past year. We hope the numbers go up even higher in 2014. Thank you again for another great year. Well see you again in 2014.

THANK YOU FOR 7 WONDERFUL ISSUES

RAY MEZA 1935-2013 Ernie Dominguez 53

This year we lost a great Phantom. Ray was an active student and carried that activism through his adult life. In 1962, Ray was elected the very first president of the CHS Alumni Association. In the 2012 gala magazine, Ray was quoted, I got involved with the Alumni Association because I always felt I never left
