His Grace Bishop Youssef Resurrection Feast Greeting 2019
My Beloved Children,
Christ is risen! Truly He is risen! I wish you all a very blessed and joyous Resurrection Feast. “This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24). The resurrection of the Lord Christ is the source of all happiness and the remedy for heartache and sorrow. During Holy Passion Week, we journeyed with Him to the cross and then to the tomb and lamented for the pain that we brought upon Him and the anguish that we poured upon our fellow man in the world. Jesus Christ rose and conquered death and every fear and shame. He rose to give us a life of joy in His resurrection. Every Sunday is a feast of His holy resurrection because it is the Lord’s day. The Church sets aside this blessed day for the Lord so that we may rejoice in our salvation, keep close with our loved ones, and sanctify the Lord’s day. Do what you can to escape from neglecting this day whether for work, studies, or any oth-er matter. If you cannot give it all to the Lord, give Him everything that you can, and as much as you can. “Therefore the Lord blessed the Sab-bath day and hallowed it” (Exodus 20:11). Sunday is the new day of the Lord. It is the eighth day. It is a new day in a New Covenant. It is the day of His resurrection, a holy day, a day to be with the Lord in His church, to hear His words, to unite with Him in the Holy Eucharist, and to be recon-ciled with each other. Let us strive to sanctify this blessed day, rejoicing in prayer and fellowship in the holy church of God. “You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary: I am the Lord” (Leviticus 9:30).

H.O.P.E. Help Other People Excel
Resurrection 2019 Thank God for another quarter of blessings in helping our brethren in need. 2019 Nativity Project – H.O.P.E. was blessed to contribute 1,100 winter blankets, 3,965 sets of children’s clothing, 12.07 tons of meat, 5,815 chickens and 4,076 food bags with grocery items costing almost $106,000 to 31 various needy areas throughout Egypt. Child Learning and Creativity Cen-ter in Sharabia – H.O.P.E. provided for two libraries and 16 computers with $9,525 to help keep the children off the streets and to put their time and talents to good use. Health Screening and Maintenance Program – H.O.P.E. funded this initi-ative for 13 villages in the Deriout Diocese with $11,155 to help 450 pa-tients by screening, treating and providing medications. A generous donor also donated 104 pairs of reading glasses. 14 medical cases were also helped this quarter. Preschool – 25 needy children in a nursery in Naqada are now being sup-ported with $1,000 a month. Prisoner’s Service – H.O.P.E. con-tributed $10,835 for a year to help prisoner’s families in Shabeen El Kanater.
St. George Center for Special Needs – 41 special needs children in Ezbet El Nekhl are helped with $555 per month. Orphanages – Many generous donors provided for food and clothing for or-phans in four different orphanages with $21,541. St. Mary and Abo Sefein Hospital in Hagganah – H.O.P.E. contributed $2,000 to a Kidney Dialysis Center and $2,000 to a Neonatal Unit in the hospital to help provide free treatment for the needy. Greenhouse Project in Samalout – By the support of many generous do-nors, $22,000 was collected for a poor village in Samalout to be able to build 20 greenhouses and plant various veg-etables to produce an income to help the community to become self-sufficient. Medical Bridges – H.O.P.E. collected used medical equipment and new medical supplies donated by a Coptic Community in the U.S. These items were given to Medical Bridges, an organization that sends medical dona-tions in containers abroad to medically underserved populations.

Sunday School Curriculum Revision Announcement
"And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wis-dom; and the grace of God was upon Him" (Luke 2:40)The Coptic Orthodox Diocese of the South-ern United States is in the pro-cess of revising and updating Sunday School Curriculum. After 15 years of the development of the curriculum that our churches currently use and since this year, the Coptic Orthodox Church marks 100 years of the establish-ment of Sunday School, and cele-brates the remarkable man who founded it, St. Archdeacon Habib Girgis, it was most appropriate revise the curriculum. Our mis-sion and vision have not changed. However, we need a new begin-ning relevant to the life of our children here. We are working to improve the ways we equip serv-ants, engage students, and im-pact families. Therefore, the dio-cese is seeking faithful servants who can assist in lessons devel-opment, crafts development, visual aids development, and or graphic design development.
