  • Welcome to

    Christ Church South The Season after Pentecost

    Thus says the high and lofty one who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy, “I dwell in the high and holy place

    and also with the one who has a contrite heart and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the

    heart of the contrite.” – Isaiah 57:15

  • Blessed be God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    And blessed be his kingdom, now and for ever. Amen.

  • Collect for Purity

    Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid:

    Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may

    perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord.

  • Song of Praise

    Holy holy holy (All praise to God) Is the Lord almighty (The Trinity)

    Glory to the Father Amen

    Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah

    Holy Holy, John Arndt, David Gungor, 2017, (on behalf of Integrity Music); Capitol CMG Publishing, BMI - Broadcast Music Inc., and 3 Music Rights Societies, 20214482

  • Collect for the third Sunday after Pentecost: Proper 7

    O Lord, make us have perpetual love and reverence for your holy Name,

    for you never fail to help and govern those Whom you have set upon the sure foundation of your loving kindness; through Jesus Christ

    our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,

    for ever and ever.

  • The Lessons

  • Romans 5:15b-19

    For if the many died through the one man’s trespass, much more surely have the grace of God and the free gift in the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abounded for the many. And the free gift is

    not like the effect of the one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought

    condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brings justification.

  • If, because of the one man’s trespass, death exercised dominion through that one, much more

    surely will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness exercise

    dominion in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. Therefore just as one man’s trespass led to

    condemnation for all, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all.

  • For just as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.

  • The Word of the Lord.

    Thanks be to God.

  • Psalm 69:7-10, 16-18

    7 Let not those who hope in you be put to shame through me, Lord GOD of hosts; * let not those who seek you be disgraced because of me, O God of Israel.

    8 Surely, for your sake have I suffered reproach, * and shame has covered my face.

  • 9 I have become a stranger to my own kindred, * an alien to my mother’s children.

    10 Zeal for your house has eaten me up; * the scorn of those who scorn you has fallen upon me.

  • 16 Save me from the mire; do not let me sink; * let me be rescued from those who hate me and out of the deep waters.

    17 Let not the torrent of waters wash over me, neither let the deep swallow me up; * do not let the Pit shut its mouth upon me.

  • 18 Answer me, O LORD, for your love is kind; * in your great compassion, turn to me.’

  • The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to Matthew.

    Glory to you, Lord Christ.

  • Matthew 10:24-33

    Jesus said, “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master; it is enough for the

    disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the

    house Be-el'zebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.

  • "So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be

    known. What I tell you in the dark, utter in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim upon the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who

    can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?

  • And not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father's will. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. So every one who acknowledges me before men, I

    also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven; but whoever denies me before men, I also

    will deny before my Father who is in heaven.”

  • The Gospel of the Lord.

    Praise to you, Lord Christ.

  • Today’s Sermon The Rev. Dr. Matt Boulter

  • The Creed

    We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,

    maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

  • We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,

    eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light,

    true God from true God, begotten, not made,

    of one Being with the Father.

  • Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven:

    by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from

    the Virgin Mary, and was made man.

  • For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.

    On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;

    he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right

    hand of the Father.

  • He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,

    and his kingdom will have no end.

    We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the

    Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.

    He has spoken through the Prophets.

  • We believe in one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.

    We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

    We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

  • The Prayers of the People

    (Form III)

  • Father, we pray for your holy Catholic Church;

    That we all may be one.

  • Grant that every member of the Church may truly and humbly serve you;

    That your Name may be glorified by all people.

  • We pray for all bishops, priests, and deacons;

    That they may be faithful ministers of your Word and Sacraments.

  • We pray for all who govern and hold authority in the nations of the world;

    That there may be justice and peace on the earth.

  • Give us grace to do your will in all that we undertake;

    That our works may find favor in your sight.

  • We pray for Lisa, Cynthia, Christi, Roland, Lynne, Drew,

    Shelly, Lauren & Terri; have compassion on those

    who suffer from any grief or trouble;

    That they may be delivered from their distress.

  • Give to Royal Hunter Kay, cousin of Allison Jarvis,

    and to all the departed eternal rest;

    Let light perpetual shine upon them.

  • We praise you for your saints who have entered into joy;

    May we also come to share in your heavenly kingdom.

  • Let us pray for our own needs and for the needs of others.

  • At this time the congregation is invited to lift their petitions and thanksgiving to God.

    Concluding Prayer.

  • Confession of Sin:

    Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor:

    Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done,

    and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of

    your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways,

    to the glory of your Name.

  • Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins

    through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness,

    and by the power of the Holy Spirit, keep you in eternal life.
