Since 1970, Childs has dedicated itself to providing engineering services in the specialized field of marine structures. This experience includes work on all forms of shore protection, bulkheads, seawalls, piers, wharves, marine terminals including cargo and passenger, shipyard facilities including shiplift systems, and a variety of marine parks and recreation facilities including public and private beaches as well as public and private marinas. All the engineers at Childs are qualified divers and perform underwater inspections to determine existing conditions, or for a new construction project, to observe underwater components of new construction. This gives our engineering staff hands on knowledge and approach to every project that we undertake. Childs has designed new structures or repairs to existing structures on more than 1000 individual facilities.
