“The objective of the Master in Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering is

to teach chemical engineers for careers in industry, academia and

advanced research in Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering”

DEGREE

The Department of Chemical Engineering at the USC was founded in 1950. The

degree in Chemical Engineering (5 years) joins the Spanish university degree

map in 1992 after being approved by the Ministry of Education. The new

Master in Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering (90 ECTS), adapted to the

European Higher Education Scheme, will start in 2013. This qualification aims

at obtaining professional occupation as chemical engineers (BOE 9th

August

2009).

CONTENTS

� Process Design: Provides a detailed knowledge of design, modelling and simulation

of industrial processes, with emphasis on management of industrial risks.

� Bioprocess: The multidisciplinary program offers a possibility to gain a broad

knowledge in biotechnological processes with close collaboration with

multidisciplinary groups at USC.

� Business Management: It is important that future graduates have business

management skills, such as leadership, time management, human resources

management. In addition, the Master program encourages entrepreneurship,

training students in the process of business creation.

� Research and Development: Create new knowledge about scientific and

technological topics for the purpose of development or improvement of products or

processes.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

� Process engineer, in companies belonging to chemical, biochemical,

pharmaceutical, food, textile and environmental sectors.

� Design engineer, in engineering companies, including applications to production

processes, R&D etc.

� Manager in companies, in organization or management areas.

� Research & Development, in companies and research institutions for the

development or improvement of products or processes.

� Access to PhD Studies.
