    The Bee Gees, KC and the Sunshine Band, Donna Summer, and Earth Wind and Fire, if these names summon up images of disco balls, disco boots, bell bottoms, and guys with big hair, then the Bemus Bay Pops has a concert for you. The psychedelic disco group Boogie Wonder Band will be hustling into Bemus Bay on Saturday August 11th to perform their energetic mix of disco funk, time warping music. Perhaps no one sums the joy of the music better than Boogie Cindy, bass player for the band. Although she admits to being pretty young during the era, her love for the music has never been stronger. This music for me has never aged. Its a fun party, with dancing, its all positive stuff. She refers to their concerts as two hours of disco therapy. Boogie Cindy started playing bass

    Grape Country Wine FestivalThe Guess Who, Sean Patrick McGraw Entertain Next Weekend at Fair Grounds

    The largest state wide wine festival in Western New York is right at our doorsteps. Come join us at Americas Grape Country Wine Festival at the Chautauqua County Fairground in Dunkirk August 11 -12. Whether you have attended the festivals in the past or you will be a new comer this year, you are sure to be delighted with all that surround you. Just some of the craft vendors you will have a chance to visit are: 20/20 Wine Site, Baldwin Hill Farms, Barker Chocolate Box, Glasswerks, and Yerico Farms. This is only a small list of the many vendors that will be there.

    National Marina Day, officially titled this year as Lake Day will be held on Saturday, August 4, from 10 am until 2 pm during the National Marina Day Celebration at Chautauqua Marina. The public is invited to join in on some of the free classes and events. The FREE Youth Fishing Contest Begins with a 10 am registration, 10:30 fishing time and prizes to be presented by Senator Catharine Young at 12 pm.

    This years recreational Tour of Chautauqua Bike Ride features courses of 25, 40, 62, 75, and 100 miles long. Beginning at 9:00 am with a mass start at Eason Hall on Elm Street in Westfield and ending there as well. The 25 mile course remains on the Lake Erie plain while the other courses have you travelling on a variety of WNY many terrains through many small towns. Sagwagon and waterstop services are provided along the way. Everyone is welcomed to participate in this annual non-competitive event. Registration is $20. You can register online at www.westfieldrec.org/bikeride or if you choose, you can register the morning of the ride. This will be a great family activity and helmets are required. Check-in and registration is between

    7:30 and 8:45 am at Eason Hall, 23 Elm Street in Westfield, NY (where the ride will begin). After the ride, a free light meal will be provided to al ride participants. For more info call 326-4243.

    The Chautauqua Institution is known for its lectures, performing arts, and educational programs. And the weekend of August 10-12 Chautauqua will showcase regional crafts. Crafts

    Alliance will, for the second time this summer be in Bestor Plaza, the heart of the Chautauqua campus, from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm on Friday and Saturday. Then from noon to 5:30 pm on Sunday. The show features craftsmen and artists in all media including jewelry, clay, sculptures, wood, paintings and more. It has become one of the most prestigious small Craft Shows in the East Coast. The Shows are limited to 72 participants, so only the best of the best are chosen. The exhibitors that are chosen not only are local but some travel as far as California to be able to present their fine art. Come stroll with us through the lovely Bestor Plaza and you are sure to be delighted in the high quality of work you will see.
