INTRODUCTION

• WIND POWER: WIND POWER is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy, such as using wind turbines to make electricity.

• HOW WIND ENERGY IS OBTAINED?... WIND MILL.

WORKING OF WIND MILL1) FAN BLADES: WIND STRIKES THE BLADE AND MAKES IT TO MOVE. BLADES ARE MOUNTED ON THE HUB.

2) SHAFT: THE HUB IS MOUNTED ON THE SHAFT. SO WHEN BLADE ROTATES, THE SHAFT ALSO STARTS ROTATING.

3) TRANSMISSION GEARBOX: THE SPEED OF ROTATION OF THE SHAFT IS VERY SLOW AND IT IS NOT SUFFICIENT TO PRODUCE THE ELECTRICITY. TO INCREASE THE OUTPUT SPEED THE SHAFT IS CONNECTED TO THE GEAR BOX.

4) OUTPUT FROM THE GEARBOX: HERE OUTPUT IS OBTAINED FROM THE SMALL GEAR HENCE THE SPEED OF THE OUTPUT SHAFT INCREASES.

5) ELECTRICITY FROM THE GENERATOR: THE HIGH SPEED OUTPUT SHAFT FROM THE GEARBOX IS CONNECTED TO THE GENERATOR AND IT ROTATES INSIDE THE GENERATOR. IT IS HERE THAT THE ELECTRICITY IS PRODUCED.

“PLACING A MINI-WIND MILL OVER THE ROOF OF THE TRAIN COACHES WILL GENERATE MORE ELECTRICITY WHICH IS USED FOR MANY PURPOSES”.

AREA=HEIGHT * DIAMETER = .3*1.20

THEREFORE,

= 1.515 KW/COACH
