CERTIFICATE IN PATTERN CUTTING GRADING AND STYLING DEVELOPMENT COURSE (PCG)

Duration : 8 weeks

Medium : Sinhala/English

Age : 18 yrs. and above

Entry Requirement:

Pass at GCE (O/L) in six subjects including English with three credits including Mathematics

Course Contents:

Identification of tools and equipment, drafting basic bodice block: Skirt, Shirt, Trouser, Dress

Drafting patterns with styles development – skirt, shirt, trouser and dress

Pattern grading and specifications based on buyers requirements

Cutting and stitching of skirt, shirt, trouser and dress

Introduction to CAD system.

This course imparts the required knowledge to the participants to learn techniques and methods to

develop a variety of garment styles from basic block patterns.

On successful completion of this training programme, participants could embark their career in

pattern making.

Pass at GCE (O/L) in six subjects including English with three credits including Mathematics and

industrial experience.

Those who are already in apparel industry

Objectives:

This course offers theoretical knowledge in pattern construction, Designing and styling

development. It prepares candidates to upgrade their knowledge on principles of pattern

production.

An introduction to figure measurements and instruments

Construction of basic patterns for men’s shirts, trousers, ladies dress and skirts and their

developments of styles

Practicing specifications

Grading

Introduction to CAD system
