GAMBICA is the Trade Association for instrumentation, control, automation and laboratory technology in the UK. It has a membership of over 200 companies including the major multinationals in the sector and a significant number of smaller and medium sized companies.

The scope of the Association covers the five principal sectors of the industry:

• Industrial automation products and systems • Process measurement and control equipment and systems • Environmental analysis and monitoring equipment • Laboratory technology • Test and measurement equipment for electrical and electronics industries

Within these industry sectors, specific product or technical issues are addressed through Association Groups.

The Laboratory technology supply group is the largest sector in GAMBICA with around 120 member companies. They comprise large multi nationals through to a significant number of SME companies. The majority are manufacturers and exporters supplying the complete range of laboratory products and services, across all laboratory sectors including pharmaceutical, healthcare, environmental, industrial, chemical, petrochemical, food and beverage, teaching and research.

GAMBICA undertakes activities companies cannot do so easily themselves including awareness, influence and participation in regulations and standards, lobbying, training and sharing best practice, statistics, forecasts and market data, networking and lobbying.

The association’s website has a product locator to help clients find companies providing the products and services they need. This can be accessed at: http://www.gambica.org.uk/sectorproductsearch/laboratorytechnology

Additionally GAMBICA takes groups of UK companies to overseas exhibitions around the world.

Deva Medical has been operating successfully as a UK medical devices and maintenance business since 1981. It has 2 core sales and service divisions: haematology; and respiratory. In 2012, we created a new division to operate within the advanced cell therapy market. Its first product is the SynGenX™ cell processing system.

The SynGenX™ system has been created with innovation in mind. It benefits from industry-leading technology and state-of-the-art designs, which combine to enable the system to process a range of blood products to isolate user determined cell populations through density gradient centrifugation. The SynGenX™ system has a mean recovery of target cell populations of over 90%. It has been designed to be used in a variety of clinical (purification of cell populations), diagnostic and blood banking areas (cord blood and bone marrow).

The SynGenX™ system routinely harvests >90% nucleated cells and >95% 34+ cells from 30-250ml cord blood, while depleting >90% of the RBCs. Alternative protocols can deplete >99% RBCs so that the final product is available for use in regenerative medicine. The system has a cylindrical, single-use, sterile polycarbonate processing cartridge which is a functionally closed system with integrated 0.2mm filters for the addition of HES, DMSO and other excipients.
