DESCRIPTION
Community Conservation Solutions' (CCS') $2 million L.A. River Greenway Trail and Habitat Restoration Project in the San Fernando Valley will open a currently-closed half-mile section of the L.A. River to the public, transforming this barren stretch into a beautiful public walking trail and natural area. The project will be a model for future river restoration projects, featuring an innovative half-mile bioswale to naturally improve water quality in the L.A. River by cleaning and infiltrating polluted urban runoff before it reaches the river, and an ecosystem-based design - the first along the river - to restore a complex of native habitats with over 4,000 native trees, shrubs and plants. The project is expected to be completed in Spring 2016.
