I. Executive Master of Business Administration Program (EMBA)

The Executive Master of Business Administration Program (EMBA) at Sana’a University is the first and only internationally accredited program for Executive Master of Business Administration in Yemen. It has also become an Outreach Program for a well-known European school – Maastricht School of Management (MSM) in the Netherlands. This program is specifically designed for top executives and intermediaries as well as self-employed and aspiring consultants in various management areas who hold fulltime job responsibilities and cannot afford to attend classes on a fulltime basis.

To enable participants to combine their studies with their careers, program schedules are usually designed in a modular structure to accommodate part-time study needs. The program has duration of two years, based on evening study. Lectures will be conducted on 9 consecutive days comprising an intensive schedule, and the remainder of the month is required for preparatory work, assignments (individual or group-based), and examination. The program has a high intensity: all modules require a high degree of participation.

Upon successful completion of the program, the EMBA degree will be conferred by Sana’a University, Yemen, and Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands.

يعملون ل�ساعات طويلة حيث ل ميكنهم الإلتحاق بالربامج التقليدية.

يعتمد الربنامج يف الأ�سا�ص على التفرغ اجلزئي يف الدرا�سة بحيث ل يتعار�ص مع املهام الوظيفية. و مبا اأن هذا الربنامج م�سائي، فقد مت ت�سميمه على نظام امل�ساقات الدرا�سية بحيث يتكون كل م�ساق درا�سي من 32 �ساعة معتمدة يتم ا�ستكماله خلل �سهر. اأما املحا�سرات التي ي�سملها الربنامج، فيتم تقدميها يف م�ساق درا�سي ميتد لت�سعة اأيام متتابعة، و تـُخـَ�س�ص الأيام املتبقية للتكاليف الفردية اأو اجلماعية ف�سًل عن الختبارات. و نظرا مل�ستوى الكثافة العايل يف هذا الربنامج، فاإنه يتطلب اأي�سا م�ستوى عاٍل من امل�ساركة

من قبل الدار�سني.

تقوم جامعة �سنعاء وكلية ما�سرتيخت للإدارة مبنح الدار�سني درجة ماج�ستري اإدارة الأعمال التنفيذي عند جناحهم يف ا�ستكمال متطلبات هذا الربنامج.

Accreditation

In recognition of the benefits derived from international partnership to enhance specialized higher education in Yemen, Sana’a University has exerted tremendous effort towards strengthening the scientific and academic exchange with a number of international institutions including Maastricht School of Management (MSM) in the Netherlands which has outstanding reputation in business education. This has resulted in signing the partnership contract with MSM in the field of Graduate Studies, Training, and Management Consultancy through the Center of Business Administration (CBA) at Sana’a University.

Center of Business Administration (CBA), Sana'a University, Yemen, operates as an academic institution under the Yemen Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Therefore, our Executive MBA program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Higher Education which is eligible to confer Master degrees. Moreover, after acquiring the international accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBAs), the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), the International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), the Executive MBA has become the first and only internationally accredited E-MBA Program in Yemen which makes it the only destination for business-oriented managers and executives.

Our Partner Maastricht School of Management (MSM), the Netherlands, is one of the top business schools in the world. It is accredited by the Association of MBA's (AMBA), the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), the International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), Dutch - Flemish Accreditation Organization, and Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

يعمل هذا املركز كموؤ�س�سة تعليمية حتت اإ�سراف وزارة التعليم العايل و البحث العلمي يف اليمن ، وبهذا يكون برنامج ماج�ستري اإدارة الأعمال التنفيذي معرتف به لدى جمل�ص التعليم العايل امل�سرح له مبنح درجات املاج�ستري. كما ح�سل الربنامج موؤخرًا على الإعتماد الدويل من قبل جمعية برامج ماج�ستري اإدارة الأعمال )AMBAs( و رابطة كليات وبرامج اإدارة الأعمال )ACBSP( و التجمع العاملي لكليات اإدارة الأعمال )IACBE( لي�سبح بذلك الربنامج الأول و الوحيد يف اليمن املعتمد دوليًا ويكون اأي�سا الوجهة الوحيدة للمدراء

Introduction

Success in today’s business environment demands highly specialized business managers. Rapid contemporary changes in economic policies and structures, including the globalization of indus-tries and markets, are driving countries, organizations, and individuals toward the search for a competitive edge. Managerial capability proves to be the most critical building stone to achieve a competitive edge for tomorrow. Executives who perform a managerial task in our business structure today require a broad mix of skills that differ considerably from traditional wisdom. Without these skills they are not able to either gain or maintain the competitive advantage that is essential for success.

Our Mission

CBA strives to provide and deliver a high quality internationally accredited MBA Program to address the needs of managers and executives with varied cultural and professional backgrounds in commercial, governmental and not-for-profit organizations, both nationally and regionally. In addition, graduated participants will be individuals committed to creative and innovative behavior, critical and strategic thinking, life-long learning, personal integrity, social responsibility and leadership of organizational change.

Sana'a University was established in 1970 to be the first and major higher education institute in Yemen. It has 39 years of experience in management and economics education, having trained thousands of managers currently active at all levels throughout private and public sectors of Yemen. Teaching Methodology

CBA teaches concepts and theories of management, stimulates critical thinking and transforms man-agement problems into opportunities from a multidisciplinary and multicultural perspective. The general approach includes lectures; problem based learning exercises, case study analyses, student participation, seminars, discussions and independent study.

While teaching, there is a strong reliance on case study methodology. Case studies provide a vehicle for identifying problems, analyzing them, deriving solutions and considering how to implement them. Working efficiently and effectively in different groups is emphasized in the Executive MBA program through an approach of group study. This is considered an invaluable skill for managers.

The use of group study enables participants to benefit from the experiences of others. Group members are selected at random in order to maximize the learning opportunity in an environment that fosters collaboration with fellow members from different work environments. In addition, it is a great chance to begin building a life long network of contacts.

Library and Research Facilities:

In support of our graduate program, a modern and comprehensive library with thousands of books and a research zone have been established to serve participants and faculty members with scanning, printing and photocopying facilities available. In addition, there is also the virtual library containing thousands of references including e-books, journals, articles, career materials, publications, reports, in-house academic publications, etc in a number of databases such as Business Source Premier and Regional Business News (Ebsco), Emerald Management Extra 125 (Emerald), and ScienceDirect Business, Management and Ac-counting (Elsevier).

Technology Infrastructure:

The center has a large computer lab providing services such as research and learning facilities, fast in-ternet connection, learning programs, with over 60 up-to-date PCs so as to make the finest provisions to participants, professors, seminars, workshops, etc. Wireless access to the Internet is also available for all participants and visitors.

Design

Our Executive MBA program is developed by a team of Yemeni, regional and international experts. The program is designed to develop management competencies in both functional and general areas of management, providing the knowledge, skills and attitudes to function as a business leader in private or public sectors.

The program consists of four segments, starting with a Foundation segment, providing a solid knowledge base in each of the major management disci-plines. The Integration segment offers courses with a broader focus. These are more integrated and often multi-disciplinary in nature. The Deepening segment contains a number of expert courses. The program is completed by the writing of a Master Thesis in the Performance segment based on a current business research project of participants’ choice.
