Živa Wellness Although the church of Mary stands on Bled Island today, according to tradition this was once a place where Živa, the ancient Slavic goddess of life and fertility, was worshipped. It is this goddess that the wellness centre in the Hotel Golf was named after. The centre comprises swimming pools with thermal water, a world of saunas and a beauty centre for the body and soul.

The Bled Golf Course

The Bled Golf Course is one of the oldest golf courses in this part of Europe, having opened to the public as early as 1937. Even then, experts said that it was one of the most beautiful golf courses in Europe, since golfers are surrounded by idyllic nature at every step and spoiled by magnificent views. In 1940, the British ambas-sador Sir R. Campbell told a journalist, “You can truthfully pub-lish that this is the most beautiful golf course on the Continent…” and even today, many modern golfers are of the same opinion. Especially since 1972, when the 18 hole King’s Golf Course was redesigned by the renowned golf architect Donald Harradine. Tak-ing into account all the natural features, he succeeded in creating an architectural masterpiece. In 2009, the Bled Golf Course was 54th on the list of the best and most beautiful golf courses in Eu-

rope. The fact that golfers use every single club in their bag when playing here demonstrates how varied and diverse the terrain is. It is no surprise that golfers keep coming back to this course.

In 1992, the King’s Golf Course was joined by the modern Lake Golf Course, featuring more varied terrain, 9 holes and 3 water hazards. This is favoured by players looking to test their mastery of the game in the face of water hazards. There is a practice putting green next to the Lake Golf Course.

The King and Lake Golf Courses cover almost 100 ha of land. They are distinguished by their size and the positioning of the holes. The exceptional natural features make each hole a unique

experience and, thanks to its location in the embrace of Slovenia’s highest mountain, the course resembles a park.

The Bled Golf Course offers many possibilities for both beginners and experienced golfers, as well as the most demanding profes-sional players who participate in tournaments all over the world. At the practice facility, players can take advantage of a driving range, a practice putting green, a green with a sand hazard and a chipping green. Players looking to learn the game or improve their technique can hire a professional golf instructor. For children, we offer carefully compiled golf learning programmes, including golf camps.

Golfers can relax in the comfort of the King’s Club House, a jewel of rustic Slovenian architecture. Its interior is decorated with an unusual fresco by Gabrijel Stupica, depicting angels swinging golf clubs.
