Client
Client is a Saudi Arabia-based telecommunications company that offers landline, mobile and internet services. They provide integrated mobile, fixed and broadband communications services to over 142 million subscribers in 10 markets including Saudi Arabia. Headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the client is the largest telecommunications company by market capitalization, total revenue and number of employees in the Arab State region. In the last few years, they have gone beyond its local borders to the international markets, forming a network of businesses and investments in a number of GCC countries, Asia and Africa. The company is now present in Kuwait, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, South Africa and Bahrain which has enabled them to serve a larger number of customers internationally.
The Objective Company has around 10 subsidiaries now, and they wanted to integrate/consolidate all processed data and the reports of their subsidiaries,
and monitor KPIs. They wanted to have a platform which can easily produce these KPIs, Dashboards and Analytics. The BI solution was expected to tackle these operational as well as tactical KPI management activities of all subsidiaries. Since they were not using any system for managing these requirements, the time taken to produce these reports was too high, and at times compilation was inaccurate. To gain additional efficiency and accuracy, to reduce time to generate KPIs, and to lower the overall operational cost, the management decided to evaluate different business intelligence tools. The core challenges identified are:
Compile and consolidate data from various subsidiaries
Incorporate complex KPI formulas and equations
Reduce time to define new KPIs and change existing KPIs
Reduce time to publish dashboards and KPIs based on periodic data collected from various subsidiaries

The company wanted to have a business intelligence and Performance Management solution that was built on an industry standard architecture and interoperable in their existing platform for their windows based system.
The Solution After a rigorous technical and functional discussion, ElegantJ BI developed and presented a comprehensive proof of concept based on their sample data. This helped them to analyze and verify the fulfillment of their functional and technical needs and the ability of ElegantJ BI. Considering the functional features, simplicity, compatible architecture and scalability, they opted ElegantJ BI as their BI solution.
ElegantJ BI has been integrated with their SQL server 2008 R2 database to meet the client’s data integration needs across various subsidiaries and reporting needs. ElegantJ BI has been configured to build multi dimensional cubes and our team helped them in resolving the challenges they were facing for retrieving values of the reported KPIs. ElegantJ BI has given immense support to their team starting with understanding the data, then structuring it, defining calculations, and building BI objects such as scorecards, dashboards, cross tabs, graphs, reports, etc. ElegantJ BI’s sophisticated Balanced Scorecards has been implemented to prepare their strategic maps with hierarchy of perspectives, objectives and measures. ElegantJ BI product, support and business analysis teams have worked closely with client’s IT team and project managers throughout the project, and developed the whole Performance Management solution to meet their requirements. Comprehensive technical and functional training has been provided to ensure good take up among users.
