Challenge: To engineer an economic, sustainable method of heating the 3,640-square-foot, outdoor pool at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Solution: Heliocol designed a system using 3,000 square feet of He- liocol solar pool collectors installed on a flat roof. The aver- age unheated temperature of the pool at the university is 70°F. The average water temperature when heated with the Heliocol solar pool heating system is 84°F.
