ENGLISH & MATHS
If you want to train in Carpentry and Joinery our experienced tutors will guide you through the skills areas in our industry-standard equipped workshops.
Carpenters and Joiners require an eye for detail, a sense of precision and a creative flair.
You’ll learn about construction technology, using woodwork joints, maintenance of tools and using power tools. Building on this you will learn about erecting structural carcassing, using circular saws and carrying out first and second fix operations.
You also have the option of training for a multi trades qualification including Brickwork and Joinery with the opportunity to study one of those at a higher level. You’ll also get the chance to gain valuable work experience with local companies and community projects.
Level 1
Entry requirements
You will require GCSEs grade 1-2 (E-G) or equivalent including Foundation Awards and Entry Level Certificates.
Internal progression to the Level 2 or a suitable course is guaranteed with a good standard of attendance and commitment to all lessons including Maths and English.
Level 2
Entry requirements
You will require 4 GCSEs grade 2-3 (E-D) or equivalent including English & Maths.
Internal progression to the next level is guaranteed with a good standard of attendance and commitment to all lessons including Maths and English.

If you haven’t achieved a GCSE Grade 4 (C) in English and/or Maths you will be required to either; take a Functional Skills qualification if you have achieved a Grade 1 or 2, or retake the GCSE if you’ve achieved Grade 3. You will be fully supported by our specialist team ahead of taking the exam.

This study programme has been specifically designed as the ideal progression route for anyone who has successfully completed the Level 2 within the same subject area.Entry requirements
