Restricted Foods/ Items
Carbonear Academy has several students that have se-
vere, life threatening allergies to the following food
items; All nuts, kiwi and fish. These are airbourne aller-
gies that pose a significant health risk. For this reason we
are asking that all parents/guardians are vigilant in ensur-
ing that the following foods items are not sent to our
school in any form. This is also a smoke free and scent
free building.
Important Dates
School Pictures
School pictures have been scheduled for Tuesday, October 8th. Students will have forms to choose
the background color and pose; this form must be given to
the photographer on picture day.
Volunteers
Any parent that would be available to help out
this year in any way, whether it is with
breakfast program or any other school
initiative we ask you to please fill out
and return the volunteer form already
sent home.
Student Drop off/Pick up Protocols
Students being dropped off have to be dropped at the front of the school.
There is no parking in the drop zone.
Parents who wish to accompany their students inside must park across the street.
The road behind the school is for buses only.
Parents taking students out to lunch must sign their child out at the office; they must be signed back in again when they return.
Parents picking up students during the day, must be buzzed into the office and wait there while your child comes to the office; parents are not permitted to go to the classes or walk through the building.
Parents are asked to be prompt when picking up students from extra curricular activities.
At the end of the day all parents picking up students must wait in the porch until we release the children; this is both to keep down on congestion in the foyer and confusion while loading buses.
Lunch
Our caterer is Harbour Breeze. Students in Grades 1 to 5 have to pre-order their lunch; junior high students may order on site although pre-orders are recommended. When pre-ordering please clearly label the student’s name and homeroom ( example: John Smith, 2T). Also write on your order the amount of money enclosed, please use correct change, if this is not possible please clearly write the amount owed on the order and circle it. Please do not send in little tiny pieces of paper for order-ing, as they are easily missed and misplaced - lunch and recess must be submitted on two separate pieces of pa-per.
No students will be permitted to leave school property No students will be permitted to leave school property

Thank You
To Worley Parsons and to the NL Nurses
Union for their donations to our Break-
fast Program.
We have recently received quite a few
donations in memorial of loved ones; all
donations are gratefully appreciated.
Thank you for all your con-
tinued support to our Break-
fast Program.
Schedule
Carbonear Academy operates on a
Ten Day schedule. The days are
locked in for the year, if there is a
snow day or a cancellation, the day
will be missed—not moved forward.
Attached is a schedule of the days for
the year.
Attendance
It is important that all students arrive at
school on time and ready to start the day.
Doors open at 8:35 a.m.; homeroom and
morning announcements are at 8:45 a.m.
Absences
If your child is absent for any reason,
please send along a note to your child’s
teacher. We have a new system in place
for attendance this year; for this reason
please send all notes for absences on a
separate piece of paper; please do not
send notes regarding absences in your
child’s agenda. NOTE: Please do not call
the school to say your child is sick.
SynreVoice Our SynreVoice system has not yet been set up by the dis-
trict to work along with our new PowerSchool program.
We hope it will be in place very soon so that we can send
important messages to you in the usual manner.
