I’d love to chat with you about your design requirments.

PRIMER

MASCARAMascara, Maybelline have come a long way since its early days and is now the choice of Makeup artists everywhere. It doesn’t have to be waterproof; in fact you’re better off not wearing waterproof on a daily basis

LIPS

When you think of long standing, vintage cosmetic houses who do you think of? Estee Lauder? Perhaps even Dior? What about Maybelline? Believe it or not Estee lauder was founded in 1935 and Maybelline in 1915. These two cosmetic houses are still strong in today’s market. Both well and truly defining their own target market, they have survived by adding luxury into women’s lives.Applying and wearing your makeup is your own little bit of luxury. Whether you have a full morning to yourself to complete your masterpiece or whether

you’re like me and have a few minutes while your little one bumps into your legs while happily playing in her walker.Whatever your style, your day requires makeup that lasts. Mascara that doesn’t smudge and lips that don’t budge, so I just want to touch on a few products that will give you that luxe. Primer before your moisturise and sunscreen (to be spoken about at a later date) will give your skin a nice smooth surface for the foundation to glide upon as well as preventing your pores from soaking up everything. In a word use Primer and your foundation will last longer.

A FEW OF MY FAVOURITES:

1. Erin Bigg Cosmetics Retexturising Face Primer SPF 20 $47.00 www.erinbiggcosmetics.com.au and www.makeupandglow.com.au2. Australis Face Base Primer $10.95 Big W and Priceline 3. Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Primer $55.00 www.napoleonperdis.com

4. Tom Ford Lipstick David Jones $65.00 Stockist information: 1800 061 326 5. Maybelline Big Lash Great Mascara $14.98 www.bigw.com.au

For some of us this is as close as we can get to designer brands, so why not splash out? Tom Ford’s range of lipsticks come in beautiful gold packaging. Their pigment is strong yet the lipstick is still nourishing at the same time.

This week our lucky reader, Candice was spoiled with a makeover at Paddington’s gorgeous, Bach Hair.

Candice has three kids and somehow manages to juggle the very trendy Happy Little Dumplings chain that has grown ridiculously fast over the past few years.

Sarah Hine, the salon’s Goldwell Ambassador was the creative genius behind Candice’s makeover.

Sarah has been with Bach Hair for almost five years, and loves absolutely everything about the world of hair!

Channeling her inner Rihanna, Candice wanted a lighter look on her already stunning locks.

By tinting the roots and using the beliage technique on the ends, Sarah was able to create the cool gold look even RhiRhi herself would be envious of.

We absolutely love the results of this week’s makeover and are always

Supporting RSPCA Queensland

This project was born out of self therapy as much

as it was altruism. I have three distinct passions;

photography, health and fitness, and animal

welfare. So, it was fairly convenient to combine

the three and develop this book. But, it wasn’t

about a blind connection between the three

topics, just because they are all something I am

interested in. It was much more synchronistic and

meaningful. I’ve always maintained that there is a

distinct correlation between a healthy, balanced

mind, a healthy, balanced lifestyle and healthy,

balanced pet care. WOD Dogs showcases that

connection and puts a spotlight on the enrichment

that can be brought to your life when those three

things are achieved, and the reciprocated love

and bond between these dogs and athletes.

As an RSPCA Inspector, I saw and dealt

with some brutal, hard hitting, emotionally

and psychologically scarring events that

will stay with me for the rest of my life. My

former colleagues are dealing with them

daily… Some as you read this right now…

For a while I lost faith and was jaded by a belief

that a majority of humanity were cruel and

or ignorant, lazy and selfish. It was as a result

of being exposed too frequently to what was

actually a very small minority. Needless to say,

that minority still need to be educated and or

brought to justice and the animals that they are

mistreating, whether through neglect or cruelty,

need to be saved and given a second chance.

Every morning the RSPCA Qld Inspectorate prepare to attend

animal cruelty complaints across the state. Before departing

for those jobs, they already face some major challenges:

Being ‘one up’ (each Inspector has a designated area

of

operation and do not have the security of a partner as do

Police, yet they deal with the same ‘clientele’ and

therefore the same personal safety risks);

Lack of government funding (less than 2% of the annual

operating

budget is provided by government and yet

RSPCA Qld require >$30M p.a. to keep their doors open),

means they must make do with limited resources; and,

Magistrates are handing down such lenient penalties

for animal

cruelty offences, not only does it set a

laughable precedence, RSPCA Qld only recoup a very

small portion of costs (legal, treatment, and boarding)

and so are forever behind the ‘eight ball’!

Once on the road performing their daily duties, The

Inspectorate are then confronted with countless, helpless

and defenceless animal victims in need of immediate

veterinary attention, and in order to provide that, the

Inspectorate also have to manage the delicate and hostile

human element also. In a typical day, an Inspector will

likely encounter neglect, blatant cruelty and mistreatment,

breaches of duty of care, and will seize animals for emergency

treatment and evidence. The culprits are only sometimes

brought to justice and not all cases have a happy ending.

And at the back end of this process, the veterinarian, customer

service, shelter operations, fundraising, training, administrative

support and volunteer staff have equal challenge in providing

adequate (sometimes emergency) care to the animals, rescuing

wildlife, rehabilitating injured and or cruelty victims physically

and behaviourally, providing a suitable environment to live

while waiting for adoption/release, educating the public on

topics from basic animal welfare to ethical standards for animal

husbandry practices, and all the inelegant jobs such as picking

up faeces, hosing out urine, and changing soiled bedding…

It all gets done with such passion and selflessness, because

everyone has one objective in mind… To save animals lives.

If you donate, this is what your money buys:

FOREWORD

This project couldn’t have been made possible without the beautiful generosity (in both time and dollars)

of some very key people / businesses. Your support means the world to me,

and I am (as are the animals this project supports) eternally grateful.

LICENCED TO THRILL

SYNOPSIS

For the past five decades, James Bond 007 has earned a reputation as the slickest, wittiest, deadliest, and most remarkably well-dressed

secret agent the world has ever seen. Throughout 23 missions over 50 years, we have watched him fight, talk, drink and charm his way through battles against the most formidable foes. So easily forgotten, however, are the many beautiful and intelligent women Bond has encountered along the way. How much do we really know about the man and the people in his life? How much would he tell us?

Told through the eyes of five women, who have come to know him very well, and set to the gutsiest, brassiest soundtrack of the past 50 years, the show lures us to watch as Bond comes up against what may be his toughest mission yet: himself.

Featuring an original script, written by young playwright Martin Ingle, that cleverly weaves its way through the history of the BOND legends, this is an innovative show that packs plenty of glamour, style, twists and turns into the world of the stage musical. Cleverly scripted, with original music arrangements penned by local arranger Mick Morgan and performed by a 32-piece studio orchestra, this is a show that has all the ingredients of Broadway.

007: Licenced To Thrill is directed by Ian Leonard, with musical direction by Clint Allen. Produced by Brisbane’s leading performing arts students at St Paul’s School, this extravaganza features a cast of over 100 actors and dancers, five multimedia screens and even an Aston Martin car!

MUSIC AT ST PAUL’SWith close to 30 teaching staff and three administrative staff, the music area is a very busy and productive place to be. Extensive Co-Curricular and Academic Curricular programs are offered to extend students’ musicianship skills and experiences, whilst a large, highly qualified team of instrumental staff offer both support to formalized programs, as well as providing one to one and small group tuition. The music area is even supported by a large and very active parent support group, known as the Music Supporters’ Group or MSG.

St Pauls’ premier ensembles are well known for their high standards, and this is consistently recognized and acknowledged with top three placements in virtually all music competitions entered. With dedicated staff, vibrant interactive programs and students who quickly become aware of the amazing culture fostered within the music area, St Paul’s Music Ensembles provide an amazing opportunity for all students interested in music to be part of exciting ensemble experiences.

The Music Learning Area at St Paul’s is determined to stay at the forefront of educational design and practices. Far from resting on their laurels, Music embraces the need to remain relevant to developments in society, industry direction and educational needs. The strategic establishment and integration of technology as a stand-alone subject area in music is testament to this philosophy, with St Paul’s being one of only a handful of schools in Queensland offering Music Technology tuition to a Cert III industry standard in vocational studies.

Current media technology resources continue to be considered to enhance classroom pedagogy too. Many exciting opportunities are currently being developed and adapted to enhance classroom teaching methods and make St Paul’s Music classrooms highly educational, stimulating and exciting places to be!

The strength of the Music program at St Paul’s School is becoming increasingly responsible for parents enrolling their children at the School. With the School’s vision to be leaders in educational thinking and practice, the music area certainly lives up to that expectation!
