Getting round the University

Disabled access

Wheelchair users are welcome and should be able to take any route across the campus. All buildings have level or ramped access. All buildings on the campus have lifts except Horlock/Constantine Courts. The campus is not level, so there are some slopes, including a couple of quite steep paths. We have developed a partnership with DisabledGo to provide in-depth information about our accessibility. Travel by cycle

Cycle parks are available at: Allerton Building, Ashworth Building, Clifford Whitworth Building, Constantine and Horlock Courts, Crescent House, Humphrey Booth House, Mary Seacole Building, Maxwell Hall, Newton Building, Peel Building and the Sports Centre. Showers are available at the Sports Centre.

Campus bus service

The University runs a free bus service during term time, linking the academic campus, periphery car parks and accommodation sites. The bus is scheduled to operate at regular half hour intervals from 8.15 until 23.15 (Castle Irwell).

Car parking at the University

All University car parks are open and staffed during weekdays. The Northern, Frederick Road, Irwell Place and Adelphi sites are also open in the evenings. Before leaving the Irwell Place, Northern and Frederick Road sites, please ensure you obtain a car parking token to exit.

Travelling to the University of Salford at MediaCityUK

A regular tram service runs every six minutes in both directions between Manchester city centre and the new tram stop at the heart of MediacityUK. The two mile journey takes around 15 minutes connecting with the national rail network at Victoria and Piccadilly. A bus service linking our campus and MediaCityUK is planned for autumn 2011. If travelling by car, parking is available at the MediaCityUK public multi-storey car park opening in 2011.

Travel by train

Salford Crescent station is located on the campus between Peel Park and Allerton. There are direct services to and from Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria, as well as Blackpool, Bolton, Buxton, Blackburn, Southport, Preston, Lancaster and Barrow-in-Furness. Inter-city services normally use Manchester Piccadilly which is about ten minutes train journey from Salford Crescent.

Travel by air

Manchester International Airport is 15 miles from the University. There are regular, direct train services to and from Salford Crescent station and Manchester Piccadilly. Buses 43A, 45A, 84A and 105 link the airport and the city centre.

Travel by car

University of Salford Campus MapThe University of Salford is situated just a mile and a half (three kilometres)

from Manchester city centre – so close you can walk. We are also just 1.6 miles

from MediaCityUK. There are excellent transport links, with Salford Crescent

railway station on campus and regular bus services. Trains from Manchester

International Airport run hourly and take 30 minutes to campus. The airport

can also be reached by car within 20 minutes.
