We are pleased to welcome you this evening to our 27th Annual An Artists’ Christmas. On behalf

of Camp Fire, I’d like to thank you for joining us tonight. By attending this special gala and art

auction, in addition to celebrating the arts and artists of North Texas, you are benefitting

thousands of children, youth and families throughout the region.

I would like to recognize Linda and Drew Springer, our honor chairs, and Carrie and Allan Meyer,

our general chairs, for their leadership of tonight’s event. Their hard work and support of our

committee members and volunteers has made this evening possible.

Of course, it goes without saying that, without our artists, there would be no An Artists’ Christmas.

We are very grateful to these dedicated individuals who, year after year, donate their time and

talent to Camp Fire, demonstrating the true spirit of the holiday season.

WelcomeHonor Chairs - Linda and Drew SpringerIt is with great anticipation that we welcome you to An Artists’ Christmas. This is the 27th year Camp Fire USA First Texas Council has hosted this event that showcases our local fine artists while supporting the youth of our community. What a privilege it has been to serve as Honorary Chairs along with General Chairs Carrie and Allan Meyer. The exceptional art donated by regional and national painters, sculptors and craftsmen gives Camp Fire staff and volunteers the funds necessary to affect change in children’s lives through education and caring leadership. Camp Fire has enhanced the lives of four generations of our own family. Linda’s mother participated in a group in the 1930s, our daughter in the 1980s and a grandchild attended Camp El Tesoro this past summer. Linda’s professional career began as a Field Director for Camp Fire in Amarillo. Through the decades, Camp Fire has met the needs of our ever-changing society and, with your help, it will continue its mission for decades to come. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the participating artists who have generously donated this fabulous collection. Many volunteers have worked countless hours along with the dedicated Camp Fire staff to provide this special holiday event. We thank you all for the generosity and support you have given to make a positive difference in the lives of local children. May you have a joyous holiday and blessed New Year. We are so impressed with the outstanding artwork we have received from the incredible artists that have so graciously donated their time and talents to make this event happen. We would like to personally thank these talented individuals as well as the volunteers and Camp Fire staff that made this fabulous night possible.

We have been amazed at the incredible programs Camp Fire USA First Texas Council is involved in for our community. The Step Up program is especially near and dear to our hearts, helping students complete high school and envisioning a future through scholarships and working with school districts to give kids a second chance. Other special programs including camp El Tesoro and their vast amount of summer options including El Tesoro de la Vida Grief Camp are important to the children of our community in so many ways. These are just a few of the programs that will benefit from this single event.Please have fun tonight and know that bidding on your favorite art pieces will provide special programs for deserving children of our community. Debob Jacob | Breaking Light, 2D oil, 31 x 44, $3,000.00 Debob Jacob earned an Associates Degree in Fine Art and continued her studies with the Cowboy Artists Association during their years at the CA Museum, Kerrville, Texas. Debob has supported Camp Fire USA with her participation in An Artists’ Christmas and in the Paint Out events since 2000. Recent exhibitions include the 2010/2011 OPS Southwest; the ECAA Paint Out 2008 - 2010. She has won numerous awards and honors, most recently a 2nd Place in 2010. Debob is a member of AIS, OPS, and OPA. Her artwork can be seen at Galerie Kornye West, Fort Worth.

JoAnn Kolanko | Milkweed Fantasy, 2D watercolor & pencil, 42 x 34, $1,800.00 JoAnn Kolanko studied art while in college but is primarily self-taught. JoAnn has been fortunate to work with all media, particularly in paint, glass and wood for almost 30 years, and on personal and professional jobs throughout the metroplex and out of state. Recent exhibitions include the Eclectic Expressions Gallery, Arlington - Spring Exhibit. Other exhibitions include the Arlington Visual Arts 2010 juried show, An Artists’ Christmas (2006-2011) where she won Second Place in 2 Dimensional Works in 2008, the Arlington Visual Arts Association juried show where she was selected Best of Show in 2005, and the 2006 AVAA juried show where she won a Merit Award in Pastels. JoAnn is married to another artist, Michael Kolanko, whose great talent has made it possible to collaborate on many wonderful projects throughout the years. JoAnn is affiliated with Eclectic Expressions Gallery in Arlington, and Woodbine Furniture, Keller.

Julie A. Lazarus | Fort Worth Landscape, 2D mixed media, 28 x 25, $2,200.00 New York native Julie Lazarus studied at Hofstra University, New York University, and earned a Masters in Painting and Printmaking from the Uni-versity of Tulsa, OK. Julie is current working on a Public Art Project for the City of Fort Worth, Westside Water Treatment Plant, to be installed 2011-2012. Recent exhibitions include “Artists Eye” October 2011 at the Kimbell Museum; and Dell Computer International Advertising Campaign. ork Sunnie LeBlanc | Bicycle, Lucca, Blue Door, 2D oil, 33 x 43, $3,500.00

Sunnie LeBlanc earned a BS and a MS from Boston University and has studied with notable artists Ed Blackburn, Jill Bush, Anne Ekstrom, Debob Jacob, Judy Sager and Soon Y. Warren. Sunnie was a selected artist for the Fort Worth Symphony’s “Strings Attached” painted violins exhibit and auction. Recent exhibitions include the Samarah Gallery in Whitefish, Montana; Adobe Gallery in Fort Worth; Community Art Center in Fort Worth; Bigfork Museum of Art in Bigfork, Montana; and the Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell, Montana. She is a founding member of the Fort Worth 15, a member of the Outdoor Painting Society and the Art Department of the Woman’s Club of Fort Worth where she served as past chairman and has received many awards including a Best of Show. Sunnie’s paintings may be viewed at her studios in Fort Worth and in Kalispell, Montana. Gallery affiliations are with Adobe Gallery - Fort Worth, TX and Samarah Gallery - Whitefish, MT. As the founding chairwoman of An Artists’ Christmas galas, she has been an instrumental partner in this event that provides support for the many programs Camp Fire USA offers to our community.

Eddie Phillips | Tupelo, 3D steel sculpture, 6 ft tall, $1,800 Eddie Phillips is a self-taught sculptor who works with 100% recycled materials left behind by the gas industry. He was trained in specialty and fine art paint finishes by his late father and grandfather. All materials are gathered locally; wood is milled then hand hewn and polished. His art has been featured in publications such as Mansfield Magazine and 360 West Magazine. He was selected as the Green Artist of Choice at the Austin Pecan Festival. He won First Prize in 3 Dimensional Works at the 2010 An Artists’ Christmas. Other recent exhibitions include the Kennedale Arts Festival, Mansfield Arts Festival, and he hosted a large scale sculpture exhibit at Garden Gallery in April 2009. Eddie is affiliated with Home to Garden, Fort Worth.

Raymond Rains | Captured Copper IV, 3D glass & metals: copper, steel & brass, 17x15x4, $1,250.00 After attending a week-end glass workshop in 1999, Raymond’s fascination with glass as an artistic medium led him to explore and develop his own style of making glass artworks. He is primarily self-taught, and his exploration in fused and blown glass has resulted a distinctive style with exciting color patterns and beautiful fluid shapes. Many of Raymond’s mixed media sculptural works also incorporate welded steel, copper, aluminum and stone. Raymond has gained award winning recognition in a relatively short time. Recent exhibitions include Des Moines Arts Festival, Des Moines, Iowa June 2011; Main Street Arts Festival, Fort Worth, Texas April 2011; and “Transitions in Color” exhibition and gallery talk, Longview Museum of Fine Arts, Longview, Texas May 2010. Artist’s Statement: Working alone without studio assistants forces me to constantly think about new ways to accomplish my objectives. Glass is a beguiling and unforgiving medium, presenting countless challenges, and I am continually surprised at the direction it leads me. Jennifer Markham Stufflebeam | Blue Sky, 2D acrylic, 48 x 48, $800.00 Jennifer Stufflebeam lives with her family in Parker County and she paints out of her studio there. She studied art at Tarrant County College and perfected her techniques through local workshops. Awards include First Place - 2010 Art on the Boulevard Abstract Show; and Best Abstract Work - 2008 An Artists’ Christmas. Her artwork can be found in many private and public collections. Jennifer is the Director of Art on the Boulevard in Fort Worth, her gallery affiliation.

Randy Rogers is the lead vocalist of the, appropriately named, Randy Rogers Band. Rogers was raised in Cleburne, Texas, and by age 11, he was writing songs and teaching himself to play chords on guitar. Art Auction Rules• Our silent auction is monitored by a computerized system utilizing tablet computers. Bidders must register for a bidder number at the check in desk in order to place a bid. Please see volunteers for assistance.

• Payment for art must be made on the night of the auction. Checks, cash, MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express are accepted.

• Buyer is responsible for collecting art on the night of the auction. Buyer assumes responsibility for delivery.

• Delivery is available for a $40 per item delivery charge. Delivery will be completed by the first week of December.

• Buyer is responsible for checking the condition of merchandise prior to purchase. No refunds or exchanges will be possible. ALL SALES ARE FINAL.

• After winning your item(s), please stop by the checkout and a volunteer will assist you in collecting your artwork. All items purchased will be delineated on your invoice at the close of auction.

• Sales tax will not be charged the night of the event.

• All items have a MINIMUM BID price. Artwork in the Silent Auction will not be sold unless the minimum bid has been met.

• Bids must be made in TWENTY-DOLLAR increments.

• If the winner is not present at the close of the auction, he/she will be notified the following week to finalize the sale. If we are unable to finalize the sale within one week, the next highest bidder will be contacted.

• Ribbons and labels are property of the artists and are not purchased with the art.

• Camp Fire USA First Texas Council assumes no responsibility for commissioned work. The terms of the commission are agreed upon between the artist and buyer, and fulfillment of that agreement shall be the responsibility of the artist and buyer.

• If there are tax obligations involved in accepting a “Special Auction Item,” the buyer assumes responsibility of consulting a tax advisor to determine the tax obligation, if any, of the merchandise received.

She has been painting for 30 years and finds a true relationship between music and painting. She has studied and painted with renown artists such as Skip Lawrence, Tony Couch, Zalton Szabo, Tom Lynch, Mark Mahaffee, Soon Warren, DeBob Jacob and Margie Whittington, among others. Becky Still Deed | Golden Aspens, 2D oil, 16.5 x 19.5, $300.00Becky Still Deed earned a BA in Art Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, graduating with honors. Becky is a Texas artist who primarily paints landscapes in oil and acrylic, with bold use of color. She prefers painting with a palette knife to enrich the expression of color with texture. “My mother was creative and could make anything beautiful. She loved nature and gave me a true appreciation of seeing the beauty in nature”. After a career focused in the aviation industry, an oil painting class resurrected her love for painting. Jerry Johnston | Hummingbirds, 2D oil, 24 x 96, $2,500 Jerry Johnston is largely self-taught, but has studied with renowned watercolorist Charles Reid, and acrylic painter and teacher, Robert Burridge. He also studied advanced painting for several years at TCU with Professor Jim Woodson. Jerry paints what he sees. Upon visiting his website, you will find abstracts, figurative works, animals, florals, landscapes, and more. He works in watercolor, acrylic and oil, and recently began working in mixed media collage, incorporating digital prints. Recent exhibitions include Best of the Biennial, Fort Worth Community Arts Center; a two-man show at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, January-February 2010; and Contemporary Art and Photography with fine art photographer Tracy Watson. James Lassen | Oasted, 2D oil, 18.5 x 36.5, $1,320.00 James Lassen earned a BFA from TCU and is a first time contributor to An Artists’ Christ-mas. Recent exhibitions include Art Is The Preservation of the City where he received the Lowry Award in 2011 and 2010. Artist Statement: The work I make depicts my world from an observational standpoint, and since the majority of my thought processes involve how I relate to people, social interaction has developed into a consis-tent theme for my paintings. From situations such as dealing with co-workers to grieving over tragedy, social interaction always plays a part in the situation. I’m drawn to the smaller and seemingly less important ideas, such as waiting impatiently in line or talking on cell phones. Painting such scenes helps me deal with my own mixed feelings. I focus carefully on facial expressions and body language, keeping in mind how all of the figures communicate with each other as well as with the viewer. Brush strokes and color engage in a similar interaction, forming their own strong opinions and inten-sifying situations beyond what real life has to offer. The formal elements can be as calm or energetic as they need to be, much like people’s personalities. At first, human behav-ior would seem easy to understand because of language and our ability to reason with one another. I find that such communication and interaction only provide us with more questions, thus requiring a deeper investigation. For the audience, I offer little monu-ments that show just how many mixed emotions even the slightest glance can conjure. Gallery affiliation is with Art N Form, Fort Worth.

Randall scours flea markets, junk shops, and garage sales for materials to deconstruct until the fragments, once familiar, are given another life. Terry’s art can be found in many private homes and businesses, and at the Fort Worth Public Library. Terry enjoys creating pen and ink, as well as watercolor works of private residences. Terry illustrated “The Prayer Bear”, a book that is given to comfort children admitted to Cook Children’s Medical Center. Terry donates her paintings to An Artists’ Christmas in loving memory of her mother, Louisa Haun, who served as Executive Director of Camp Fire for many years. Gallery affiliation is with Pat & Marty’s Frame Shoppe in Fort Worth, who generously donated the framing for her 2011 artwork.

Christy Shaw | Forest Lite, 3D ceramic & wood, 10x18x8, $250.00 Christy Shaw is a self-taught artist, accomplished in many different mediums. Christy describes her education as being ever evolving through observation, seminars and courses, with great influence from her artistic mother’s talent. Her unique pieces reflect her vibrant per-sonality, embracing both the material and the spiritual, defying separation. Artist statement: My instinct is to work quickly and intuitively. I look for a natural feel throughout my work. My intent is to reflect light, movement and strength. Recent exhibitions include the San Angelo Ceramic Competition; Pottery in the Park, LMRA, Fort Worth and viewings at her home. Billy Stone | Floor of the Forest - La Junta Canyon, 2D print, 22 x 28, $500.00 Billy Stone studied art at North Texas State University in Denton and photography at East Texas State University in Commerce. Billy is a talented photographer in the DFW area, with over 30 years experience. Gallery affiliation is with Artspace 111.

Susan Sitzes | I Love Geometry: Necklace & Earrings, 3D metals & glass beads, 18” & 2”, $150.00 Susan Sitzes is a mixed-media artist living and working in the DFW area, creating limited-edition art jewelry and sculptures. Susan earned a MFA from the University of North Texas, Denton, TX and a BFA from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX. Her artwork embraces a deep love of materials, architecture, engineering, geometry and a reverence for the ever-changing organic natural world. 2011 Jewelry Materials: I Love Geometry necklace - stainless steel and aluminum; Earrings - silver, aluminum, bamboo, and Czech glass beads.

Leeanita Strickland | 2D oil, 12 x 10, $450.00 Leeanita Strickland has studied with notable artists such as Margaret Martin, Irving Shapiro, Pat Deadman, and Leo Smith. Leeanita has won the 1st Place People’s Choice Award in the Old Town Artists’ Association Show. Leeanita teaches art in her studio, where teaching beginners are a specialty. She also draws caricatures at theme parks, parties and fundraising events. Her current dealer affiliation is with Robison’s Gallery in Wichita Falls, Texas.

kPamela Summers | Chartreuse, 3D ceramic, 9 x 11, $750.00 Pamela Summers attended the Pretoria Art School of the College for Advanced Technology in Pretoria, South Africa, the University of Texas at Arlington and Tarrant County College in Ft. Worth, Texas. After making the decision in art school to become a full time ceramic artist, Pamela developed a strong signature technique for her contemporary Polychrome and Raku ceramics that has given her both regional and national recognition. Thirty-something years later, she decided to focus on her love of photography, one of her passions since high school. Transferring her sense of form and color composition from 3D to 2D has been a natural transition and is reflected in her photographs. She shoots with a Nikon digital camera and uses the computer to digitally process her photographs. Much of her work incorporates images reflecting her love of sailing and the sea. Her award winning work has been shown and sold in several juried exhibitions. Pamela owns and operates Cliff House Studio and Gallery in Fort Worth, Texas with her husband, renowned glass artist Raymond Rains and dog, Isabel Summers.

Karl Umlauf | Sea Form, 2D mixed media, 13 x 22, $750.00 Karl Umlauf earned a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin and Yale University and a MFA from Cornell University. Recent exhibitions include 2009 Cross Reference, Series of Land and Water Forms, Art Center in Waco; 50 Years Retro, Fort Worth Community Arts Center and the 2008 Texas Juried Artists Celebration, Williams Tower Art Center, where he won Second Place. Gallery affiliations are with Harris Gallery, Houston; Eugene Binder Gallery, Marfa, TX; Imago Gallery, Palm Desert CA; and Thompson Gallery, Clifton, TX.

Beatriz Welch | Dutch Irises, 2D oil, 20 x 17, $350.00 Beatriz Welch attended the Art Academy in Madrid, Spain and continued training in the studio of Carmel Mooney in Dublin, Ireland. She continued her education by taking workshops in the United States and served as a docent at the Kimbell Art Museum. Recent exhibitions include Preservation is the Art of the City, Fort Worth; Art in the Garden, Fort Worth; and at the Cathedral of Hope, Dallas. Beatriz is a Signature Member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters. She was selected from among 100 artists worldwide for inclusion in the book, “100 Ways to Paint Landscapes, Volume 1 - International Artist”. Beatriz is affiliated with the Upstairs Gallery, Arlington, TX.

Soon Y. Warren | Nook, 2D watercolor, 30 x 22, $900.00 Soon Y. Warren is a full time artist and teacher. She earned a AAS degree in Commercial Art from Thomas Nelson Community College, Hampton, Virginia. Recent exhibitions and awards include the Mary L. Quiros Award in Texas Watercolor Society; Georgia Ann Newton Award in TWSA; Southern Watercolor Society Award in GWS; Award in Watercolor USA. Soon has published two watercolor painting books, “Vibrant Flowers in Watercolor”, and “Painting Vibrant Watercolor: Discover the Magic of Light, Color and Contrast”. Her paintings were featured on the cover of Watercolor Artist magazine Jan-Feb 2009 issue, and she was a Finalist in International Artist magazine April-May 2010 issue. Linda Curtis Zimmerman | A Bit of Purple, 2D fiber, 14 x 16, $185.00 Linda Curtis Zimmerman is an artist with a passion for fiber and textile design.
