CalinaCalina is a typeface family foruse in children’s storybooks,especially for Big books.

Influenced by the Romanticstyled letter, Calina follows the contrast sort of the pointednib and hence displays dramatic contrast. The aimwas not to create a ‘special’typeface for children, butrather to create a typefacewhich enhances a child’sreading experience. Clear distinction betweencharacters was one of themain objectives. Calina is afamily of 4: regular; italic;bold; black. The glyph setalso includes ornaments.

01 My Early Home

The first place that I can well remember was a largepleasant meadow with a pond of clear water in it. Someshady trees leaned over it, and rushes and water-liliesgrew at the deep end. Over the hedge on one side welooked into a plowed field, and on the other we lookedover a gate at our master’s house, which stood by theroadside; at the top of the meadow was a grove of fir trees,and at the bottom a running brook overhung by a steepbank.
