Bring on the Ideas! In February 2011, CDEM launched a contest to gather up ideas for businesses. Wewanted to encourage people to bring us fresh, innovative ideas for our bilingualmunicipalities, says CDEMs financial and business advisor, Joel Lemoine.

A lot of people have ideas for projects, but do not necessarily want to go intobusiness for themselves, he adds. On the other hand, some people come to seeus because they want to become entrepreneurs, but dont know what it is theywant to do. So we decided to create a bank of ideas from which futureentrepreneurs could draw inspiration.

The Business Ideas Bank has made it possible to collect over 50 new ideas, themajority of which are doable, reports Joel Lemoine. (1) At the beginning of May,CDEM pinpointed a dozen ideas from the Bank to be used in a market study. Thisway, entrepreneurs who want to develop these ideas can have some inkling of theprojects feasibility, states Joel Lemoine.

Last April 11, three ideas were drawn at random from the Bank. Their authors wereeach awarded a prize. We didnt want to pick the best idea, because they were allgood! says Joel Lemoine.
