The footballers are out first, playing Down on Sunday next, April 15th, at 4pm in Croke Park, with Kerry v Mayo at 2pm. The hurlers play Tipperary on Sunday, April 22nd, at 4pm in Thurles, preceded by Kilkenny v Clare at 2pm. Tickets for both events are on sale online at http://www.gaa.ie/tickets-and-merchandise/tickets/ , priced at €20 for adults and €5 for U16s. NB: Clubs can also avail of Juvenile Group offers for both games, with such tickets prices at €3 per child and one adult free with every 10. Rebel Og Award: Kilmeen/Kilbree Congratulations to Kilmeen/Kilbree Juvenile Club, winners of the

Rebel Og Award for March, sponsored by the Rochestown Park Hotel in

association with RedFM and Irish Examiner (Media Partners) and

Cummins Sports, Award Sponsors. Kilmeen and Kilbree GAA Club are

based in South West Cork and play in the Rebel Óg West Region in both

football and hurling. The last ten years have seen a concerted effort to

transform the fortunes of the club at underage level. In May of 2011,

Uachtaráin Christy Cooney officially opened the club's new redeveloped

grounds in Rossmore, and we wish them every success in the future.

Brian Dillon’s Open New Grounds Congratulations to Brian Dillon’s, whose new facilities at Lisnahorna,

White’s Cross, were officially opened by Uachtarán Chumann Luthchleas

Gael, Críostóir Ó Cuana, on Easter Monday. Also in attendance were

officers of the County Board, Munster Council and local representatives.

Cork Website Hits Soar The Cork GAA website

has seen its popularity

almost double in the first

quarter of this year,

having already passed

the half million mark.

Hits for the first three

months were a

phenomenal 654,159,

up from 335,356 for the

same period in 2011.

For the month of March,

hits totalled 284,512 -

higher than any month

last year except our peak

in July (332,648), and

well up on the March

2011 figure of 156,543.

Award for Conor Lehane Congratulations to Conor Lehane, recipient of the Cork International

Airport Hotel Southside and District Sports Award for March, in

association with media partners, Red FM and Gerald McCarthy, Gifts and

Awards. The award recognises Conor's contribution to UCC's All-Ireland

Freshers-winning campaign, as well as the 1-18 he has scored for the

Cork Senior hurlers in the Allianz Hurling League to date, helping to

ensure their qualification for the League Semi-Finals.

Schools Receive Gradam Gaisce Flags Sciath na Scol Chorcaí recently announced the inaugural recipients of the

Gradam Gaisce Scoile, the GAA schools flag, to acknowledge and reward

schools for promoting Gaelic games. The official presentation took place

at Blackrock Castle Observatory with Senior Hurling Manager, Jimmy

Barry Murphy, Cork senior panellists, Patrick Kelly and Nollaig Cleary, and

County Board vice-chairman, Gerard Lane in attendance. For full details,

Jackie O’Shea

Commemoration On Sunday April 22nd,

Donoughmore GAA will

pay tribute to one of its

best known and loved

club members, the late

Jackie O’ Shea, who

died on April 20th,

2011, aged 85. He will

be recognised by the

unveiling of a memorial

at the club grounds at

Lackabawn at 7.30pm.

This ceremony wil be

preceded by a Mid-

Cork Junior Hurling

League game between

Donoughmore and

Aghabullogue at

5.30pm. All are

County Board Report Motions for Congress

were the main item on

the agenda for the

County Board meeting of

April 10th. Championship

fixtures were ratified,

and it was confirmed

that there will be a

separate draw for each

round of the

Colleges/Divisions

section of the County

Championships, with

repeat pairings to be

avoided where possible.

It was announced that

Junior Football Manager

Niall Kelleher had

stepped down due to

unforeseen

circumstances, and the

appointment of a

successor was referred

to the Executive. The

Coaching Officer

announced detail of a

new Coaching Corner

section to run in the

Evening Echo for the

next six Thursdays – see

UCC Honoured with North City Award Congratulations to the UCC Fitzgibbon Cup winning team, recipients of the

North City and District Ambassador Hotel Award for March, in conjunction

with Gerald McCarthy Gifts and Awards. The award was presented at a

recent function at the hotel.

Kellogg’s Cúl Camps Launched Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camps provide boys and girls - between the ages of 6

and 13 - with an action-packed and fun-filled week of activity during the

summer holidays which revolves around maximising enjoyment and

sustaining participant involvement in Gaelic Games.

Meetings for Kellogg's Cul Camp Co-ordinators will be held in the

following venues:

Tuesday April 17th Midleton 7.30 pm

Tuesday April 24th Mallow 7.30pm

Thursday April 26th Kilmeen 7.30pm

Tuesday May 1st Pairc Ui Rinn 7pm

All brochures, posters will be handed out at these meetings so its

important all co-ordinators attend.
