About ScribeDOOR

ScribeDOOR adds the ability to edit and treat text in a

wide range of languages: Arabic, Azeri, Bengali, Farsi,

Georgian, Greek, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hindi, Kannada,

Kazakh, Khmer/Cambodgian, Lao, Malayalam, Marathi,

Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Thai, Urdu, Vietnamese and Roman

languages (English, French, ...).

ScribeDOOR can be installed in all Roman Illustrator versions

(English, French, Italian, Czech, Polish,...). In localized user

interfaces (except French), only the English user interface

will be available for the ScribeDOOR panel and tools.

Working with complex scriptsInWindowsVistaandWindows7,thesupportofcomplexscriptsis includedinthestandardinstallation.InWindowsXP,youmustverifytheoption“Install files forcomplexscriptsandright-to-left languages” in Supplemental language support and change thesettingsifyouwanttoenableArabic,Hebrew,andSouthAsianlanguagesinyoursystem.

World-Ready ComposerGiving access to the “World-Ready Composer” is one of the key features ofScribeDOOR.ScribeDOORusesWRServicestechnology(acomponentdevelopedbyWinSoftInternational)whichwasintegratedinmostAdobeproductsfortheArabic, Hebrew and Farsi languages.The default composer (Adobe Every LineComposer) only supports Roman, Central European, Greek and Cyrillic scripts.WithWorld-Ready Composer, you will have the ability to type in complex languages like Arabic, Hebrew or South Asian languages (Hindi, Telugu, Lao,Thai,...).World-ReadyEveryLineComposersupportsalsothesamelanguagesasAdobeEveryLineComposer.IfyoutrytotypeArabicorHebrewtextwithAdobeEveryLineComposer,itwillnotworkcorrectly.

How to apply World-Ready Composer?

Youhavethepossibilityofeitherconvertingallofthetextframesofanexistingdocumentorworkingattheparagraphlevel.

Apply World-Ready Composer for all text frames

Select “Apply World-Ready Composer...” in the contextual menu oftheScribeDOORpalette.Youwillnowbeabletotypeincomplexscriptlanguagesinanyofyourdocument’stextframes.

Apply World-Ready Composer for a paragraph

If you are in a normal text frame, you can switch any paragraph to aWorld-Ready Composer paragraph. Select the paragraph you want to convert andselectWorld-ReadyEveryLineComposerinthecomposerpop-up.

Paragraph directionItisimportanttounderstandanddifferentiatebetween“paragraphdirection”and“paragraphalignment”.“Paragraphdirection”controlstheorderoftextandneutralcharacters(punctuation)insideaparagraph.“Paragraphalignment”controlstheplacementofthewholelineinreferencetotheleftandrightboundariesofthetext frame.Paragraphdirectionandalignmentare independentofeachother.Forexample, ifyourtext is inArabic,Hebrew,Syriac,Thaana,Azeri, ...etc,usea“Right-to-Left”paragraphdirection,otherwise,usethe“Left-to-Right”paragraphdirectionoption.TheparagraphdirectioncanbesetwiththeparagraphdirectioniconintheScribeDOORpalette.Toseehowthe“Right-to-Left”optionaffectstheappearanceofthetext,readthroughthefollowingexamples.
