Dear guests!!! We are glad to see you here in Pushkin one of the most beautiful cities in the world, the former residence of Russian tsars and the tourist scientific educational and industrial centre of Russia. Our city with the population 100 000 people is included in the list of monuments protected by UNESCO.

Let,s start our exursion!

Let,s start our excursion from our railway station. The railway station played a very important role in the history of Russia. That railway connected S- Petersburg and Tsarskoje Selo and was the first railway in Russia. Its opening took place on October 30th, 1837.

Do you know that citizens of S-Petersburg honor Gerstner as a national hero and created a monument to him?

Stop 4 Kolonistsky Pond

Now we are heading to the last stop of our route –the Kolonistsky Pond. This pond is not only the most popular spot for the rest of local citizens, the only place for swimming in the summer, it is a historical sight too. The pond was dug in 1825 by the order of the Emperor Pavel as a part of the Separate Park to drainage nearby territories. You may ask what a strange name it has. The pond is called so because there was a settlement of German colonists-workmen. What can we say about

Stop 2 Monument to Ernst Thelman

Look! We have reached our following stop – a monument to an outstanding antifascist , Ernst Thelman . This monument is a gift of german friends from Manfred city to Pushkin as a sign of gratitude for defeat of fascism. The monument was created under the project of a german sculptor Arnold and delivered to Russia.The opening of the monument took place on the 8th of May, 1960.You can see flowers at the bottom. People honor the memory of the german hero.

Stop 3 Moscow Gate

Our next stop is the Moscow Gate, which is the monument of the architecture of late Classisism and was constructed in 1830-31 under the project of the «Russian style,s» master, architect V.M.Gornostev. The Gate was built just on the place of a sity outpost on the Moscow way. Such outposts were constructed according to the decree of the Emperor Pavel in 1797. The height of it is 10,67 m, width of the basis -9,24 m. Moscow Gate was constructed in a military style like outposts of Paris at the end of 18 century. There was a way from Tsarscoe Selo to Moscow through that outpost.
