MONKS AND MONASTERIES

By Buttercup

Introduction

Hi my name is Buttercup. Today I’m going to tell you about monks

and monasteries. Hope you enjoy.

Monks Monks are people who love to pray and

write. They wrote the book of kells which is now

in trinity college. They had mass every morning. They grew their own fruit and vegetables. Raised their own animals.

Monks clothing A tunic, tied around the waist with

a cloth or leather belt. Over the tunic was a scapula. A

scapula was  a garment of a long wide piece of woollen cloth worn over the shoulders with an opening for the head.

A cowl was attached to the scapula ( the cowl  is the hood worn especially by a monk )

Their monasteries

Monks monasteries have lots of cells for each monk to sleep in.

Touching money or valuables in any way, shape or form.

Owning personal property apart from a bowl, a cup, two sets of clothing and medical aids such as eyeglasses.

Conclusion

I didn’t know that much about monks before I started this project.

Hope you enjoyed this project I put together.
