Exchange Rate Conversion in BW
Translation of figures from Local Currencies to the reporting currency is done using
Exchange Rates provided by Corporate Treasury
All Balance Sheet figures are translated based on EOP
The exchange rates are extracted from R3 and can be viewed using the Exchange Rate
T-code OB08 in R3
All data is stored in BW in their local currencies
PnL figures are translated into YTD Average Rates known as AVR (till 2010); 2011
onwards are known as PVA (Periodic Value Adjustment)

Roles - Roles are public folders and are available to many people. As you will see, you are restricted in what you can do within a Roles Folder. All BW reports assigned to a role are available for you.
Terminology used in this Manual
Selection Parameter Window - Window screen that will appear when you want to execute a query. Basically this window will have input parameters which can be optional, mandatory, single or interval entries.
Result Area - Result area is the region where the executed query result is shown.
Characteristic – A data object in BW used to view data for analysis. It is an object that a user wants to “report by” e.g. ., material, business area, material group , etc. All Free Characteristics that appears in Navigation area can appear as drilldown in the result area.
Free Characteristic - Basically it is same as the characteristic, but this one appears in the navigation area. If you want the free characteristic to appear in result area, you need to drilldown.
Navigation Area - Is the area where you can find the list of Free Characteristics.
Filtered Area - Shows the data values that have been selected to restrict the selection for the report

Saving your Report in BW
After saving your report:
• It will be available in the Bex-browser under your favorites
• It is also available from the SAP menu under favorites.
• Saved reports can be changed and resaved again
• You can create a new report based on a saved one, just open it and save it as a new workbook.
