    We started off by discussing about theproper framework of the presentation.

    After having come to a consensus onthe framework, we came up with thefinal draft of the presentation after a

    thorough brainstorming session.

    Long Term vision of Infosys foundersTo becomethe most respected company in India. The end isimportant, but the means are as important.

    Before liberalization, there were many incidents inwhich Infosys had to pay exorbitant amount (in theform of fines) to corrupt customs officials since theyrefused to pay bribe.

    Infosys also had to pay way above the marketrates for the land it acquired in Bangalore since itrefused to grease the palms of government officials.

    Murthy says, Being committed to values meansa willingness to pay a price for them in the shortterm. Otherwise, there is no meaning in sayingthat you are values driven.

    Infosys founders have time and again stressedon their middleclass values.

    1989 was a watershed year. Infosys founderswere inclined to wind up the company since thebusiness environment had too many regulatoryhurdles. But the vision and leadership of Murthycame to the rescue of Infosys.

    country even the socialists understood that

    wealth has to be created first before it can bedistributed. You cannot distribute poverty.

    When he was traveling with his wife a non-Infosys employee, he refunded the companythe difference between the hotel cost of a singleand double room.

    Employee Welfare

    Introduction of stock options for employees tomake them part of Infosys business, createdover 400 millionaires

    To decrease attrition rate, bettercompensation packages were introduced

    The company offered its employees severalperks, which included state of the artcampuses, high quality food courts, a foodcourt, a medical centre, a clothing centre,etc.
