Just a quick news flash on Capital Trainings Summer Bungalow Project, keeping you up to date with what’s happening and what we’ve got planned, as well as an opportunity for you to see some photos of where your generously donated materials are being used.
We’re going into week seven of the Summer Bungalow Project and everything’s going to plan and on schedule so far. We’ve still got lots of young adults coming in, helped largely by word of mouth of those already participating, and the media have really taken an interest in the project. The project has been featured in both the South Wales Echo and on Real Radio news, who have both been impressed by the scale of the project and how it has brought the whole community together.
The candidates have been working really hard, many have a basic knowledge of what they’re doing, just have never been given the opportunity to showcase their abilities before, whilst some have no background at all in construction and are learning from scratch. They’re all doing brilliantly; as I’m sure you’ll agree when you take a look at the pictures, and are learning practical skills which they can take into their future working careers in order to strengthen their chances of gaining employment in the future.
Having spoke to all the candidates that have come in so far, they have all told us how much fun they’re having. The motivation to attend is varied, with the most common reasons being a desire to go into the construction trade in the future and looking for something fun and free of charge to do during the long summer months. Everyone here is really excited about the end of project BBQ, which is shaping up to be a fun day. Loads of activities have been planned, such as a penalty shoot out, tug of war and more. We’ve also got a raffle draw for several prizes, with all proceeds going to Ty Hafan Children’s Charity. The prizes include Paintball tickets, meal vouchers to Chiquito and Tiger Tiger, IPOD Speakers, a food hamper from Unilever, tickets to Cardiff Blues Rugby and Glamorgan Cricket and many more. If you intend on coming make sure you R.S.V.P as soon as possible to guarantee your place. The Facebook Competition has commenced, with anyone who’s friends with Capital Training on Facebook eligible to enter. We’ve got an extremely close up picture of an object within the Bungalow Project, and whoever can guess what the object is will be entered into a draw with the winner winning paintball tickets at Delta Paintball. The draw will be held at the end of project BBQ.
We’ve genuinely enjoyed this project so far, and have been really impressed by the effort of the candidates and the generosity of all the companies who have donated the materials which have enabled this project to get off the ground. We hope you have been impressed by our efforts, and we hope to continue bringing such innovative projects to the South Wales area in the future.

THEFILM The film crew have been visiting on a regular basis and have been getting some great footage for the bungalow film. Several learners have been interviewed and we are getting some great feedback on the project!A reminder to all sponsors or anyone who would like to feature in the film, all you need to do is let us know and we can arrange it!!!

If you are interested in attending our barbecue on the 11th September, at our Cardiff based training centre where the bungalow project is taking place, just let us know. We’d love to see you there, and are sure you’d have a great time with all the interactive activities we have lined up, such as a penalty shoot out competition, tug of war, the raffle draw etc.
Since 1999 Tŷ Hafan has been helping life-limited children, young people and their families make the most of the time they have left together.
Not only is Tŷ Hafan a home from home providing specialist palliative care, but it also offers a much-needed source of strength, respite and support for the whole family. From diagnosis to bereavement and beyond it takes its support right into the heart of the family home.
Tŷ Hafan’s services are completely free of charge to families in Wales and to provide this service it has to raise millions of pounds every year. To continue to provide this unique service to families, it relies on the generosity of the public, its corporate sponsors and volunteers.

SUMMER BUNGALOW CHARITY RAFFLEThis summer Capital Training (SW) Ltd are hosting the Summer Bungalow Programme.
The scheme is free to attend for 14-16 year olds, throughout the 10 weeks the participants will be building a bungalow from start to finish. This nonprofit project has been funded completely by
sponsorship and donations. At the finale BBQ we will be holding a raffle to raise money for Ty Hafan.
