Children: Prepare the way of the Lord! And all people shall see the salvation of our God!

Pastor: We see him entering the holy city, being worshipped as a king. Who is this before whom we sing, ‘Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven’?

People: Christ our King, a ruler made known in brokenness and strength, not in earthly power.

Pastor: Who is this whom we join on the road to Jerusalem? People: Christ our Redeemer, who gives life in all its

fullness, even at the heart of the passion and pain. Pastor: Who is this whose name brings salvation and life

wherever preached? People: Christ our Savior, who lifts our hearts in praise:

Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!

Cantor: Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest! People: Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest! Cantor: Holy, holy, holy Lord God of power and might. People: Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest! Cantor: Heaven and earth are full of your glory. People: Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna in the highest! Cantor: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. People: Hosanna! CHARGE TO THE PARENTS Amy Butler

CHARGE TO THE COMMUNITY Amy Butler

No child grows up without the spiritual support of his community, and no parent raises a child alone. We are now charged with loving and spiritually supporting this family, and we pray for Allen and Ashley as Grady’s parents. As Grady’s church family, do you promise to love this child, to offer him your nurturing prayers to help sustain him and his family as they learn and grow and change together?

We do.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND LORD’S PRAYER Leah Grundset Davis

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

REFLECTION Kol Nidrei Traditional Chant for Yom Kippur Nurmira Greenberg, cello

May all the people of Israel be forgiven, including all the strangers who live in their midst, for all the people are in fault.

HYMNS IN ALTERNATION O Come, All Ye Faithful ADESTE FIDELES / arr. David Willcocks Ah, Holy Jesus HERZLIEBSTER JESU / arr. John Ferguson

All: O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant! O come ye, O come ye to worship Him. Son of the Father now in flesh appearing!

Refrain: O come, let us adore him; O come, let us adore him; O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord!

Choir: Ah, holy Jesus, how have you offended, that mortal judgment has on you descended? By foes derided, by your own rejected, O most afflicted.

Choir: Who was the guilty? Who brought this upon you? Alas, my treason, Jesus, has undone you. ‘Twas I, Lord Jesus, I it was denied you; I crucified you.

Page 5: Bulletin, Sunday, March 24, 2013

All: Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation, sing, all ye citizens of heaven above! Glory to God in the highest! Refrain.

Choir: Lo, the Good Shepherd for the sheep is offered; the slave has sinned, and the Son has suffered; for our atonement, while we nothing heeded, God interceded.

Choir: For me, kind Jesus, was your incarnation, your mortal sorrow and your life’s oblation, your death of anguish and your bitter Passion, for my salvation.

All: Yea, Lord we greet thee, born for our salvation! Jesus, to thee be glory giv’n! Word of the Father now in flesh appearing! Refrain.

During the singing, we invite you to come forward if you wish to make a public commitment to Christ or to join our family of faith. If you are interested in membership or have questions about Calvary, please contact Pastor Leah.
