March 29, 2015 - Passion/Palm Sunday The Mind of Christ

Isa 50:4-7 God’s suffering servant brings us hope. Psalm 22 Why have you abandoned me? Phil 2:6-11 A hymn to Jesus’ humility and exaltation Mark 14:1-15:47 The suffering and death of Jesus

As he was dying, Jesus may have recalled the moment when he stood with the devil on the very high mountain beholding all the kingdoms of the world, and the devil's words of temptation: “All these will I bestow on you if you prostrate yourself in hom-age before me.” He may also have recalled how, just a few days before, he

had entered the great city riding on a colt, wel-comed by cheering crowds. But these glimpses of worldly glory are worth-less. Today’s Gospel of the Lord’s Passion points us toward the encounter with Pontius Pilate, when Jesus declares: “My kingdom is not of this world.” Neither is ours. -- Dc. Dick Folger Next Week’s Readings… Acts 10:34a, 37-43 Peter preaches Christ’s death and resurrection to the gentiles. Psalm 118 This is the day the Lord has made. Col 3:1-4 Paul teaches the consequences of follow-ing Christ. John 20:1-9 The empty tomb is discovered.

Pontifical Collection for the Holy Land On Good Friday, April 3, there will be a Papal Col-

lection for the Holy Land in support of Christian communities there, the work of the Holy Land, the upkeep of the Holy Sites, and the formation of fu-ture priests. Let us give generously and show soli-darity to respond to the needs of the Church in the land of Jesus! Envelopes for this collection can be found in your offertory box or at the church en-trance.

World Meeting of Families Philadelphia Sept 22-27, 2015

The Holy Father has invited families from around the world to come and explore the critical role that the family plays in today’s society. Participants will also have an opportunity to attend the Papal Mass on September 27th. The Diocese of St. Catharines has arranged 50 travel packages for this event. Registrations will be accepted on a first come basis. Details are available from the parish office or con-

tact Franca Lanigan at the Catholic Centre 905-684-0154.
