Sr. Ministry for the Sick and Homebound We are grateful to those who give of their time and care to bring holy communion to our parishioners who cannot make it to church due to sickness or in-firmity. If you know of anyone who would like to re-ceive communion in their home, please contact the parish office.

Prayer for Persecuted Christians O God of all the nations, the one God who is and was and always will be, in your providence you willed that your Church be united to the suffering of your son. Look with mercy on your servants who are persecuted for their faith in you. Grant them perseverance and courage to be worthy imitators of Christ. Bring your wisdom upon leaders of nations to work for peace among all peoples. May your Spirit open conversion for those who contradict your will, that we may live in harmony. Give us the grace to be united in truth and freedom, and to al-ways seek your will in our lives. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Our Lady, Queen of Peace, pray for us. -- Archbishop William E. Lori, Supreme Chaplain

God rejoices in his people as a bridegroom rejoices in his bride. (Isaiah) All spiritual gifts are of the one Spirit. (Corinthians) Water becomes wine at Cana. (John)

In the United States, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said, My parents elected me president of the family when I was 4. We actually had an election every year and I al-ways won. Im an only child, and I could count on my moth-ers vote. Jesus had his mothers vote of confidence that day when they ran out of wine at the wed-

ding celebration. Mary knew that Jesus could solve the wine problem. She simply told the servants to do whatever Jesus said. The servants did as he in-structed them. Jesus first miracle was a resounding success. One estimate suggests that he made about 120 gallons of the most excellent wine when he told the servants to fill the six stone jars with wa-ter. --Deacon Dick Folger Next weeks readings . . . The people respond to Ezras proclamation of the law. (Nehemiah) We are members of the body of Christ. (1 Corinthi-ans) Jesus comes home to Nazareth. (Luke)

Christian Unity Week 2016 (Jan. 18-25) Theme: "Called to Proclaim the Mighty Acts of

God" (1 Peter 2:9) This universal week of prayer encourages Chris-tians of all denominations to meet, to participate in various liturgical and other community activities, and to pray together that all may be one, as Christ desires. This year, we rejoice in the opportunity to pray with the Christians of Latvia . They call us to reflect on the mighty acts of God in our lives, and to find ways in which we can witness to these acts by working together for the unity of Christs Church. day 1 -- "let the stone be rolled away" day 2 -- "called to be messengers of joy" day 3 -- "the witness of fellowship" day 4 -- "a priestly people called to proclaim the Gospel" day 5 -- "the fellowship of the apostles" day 6 -- "listen to this dream" day 7 -- "hospitality for prayer" day 8 -- "hearts burning for unity" Lord Jesus, you have made our hearts burn within us, and have sent us back upon the road towards our brothers and sisters, with the Gospel message on our lips. Help us to see that hope and obedience to your commands always lead to the greater unity of your people. Amen.
